This is a small plastic parts box/bin that is great for securely holding small electronic components in individual compartments. You don't want resistors and capacitors hanging out together - bad things happen.
Latching lid - 2 sided. 9 compartments.

Seriously, parts need to be kept segregated lest you wind up with a tiny brood of memristors or klystrons. Those things are harder to get rid of than a litter of kittens. And they're not RoHS-compliant (the parts, not the kittens) so you can't just tie them in a sack with some rocks and toss them in a pond. Come to think of it, you can't do that with kittens anymore either, though you'd need a bigger box to keep them in. You'd probably have to poke holes in the lid. I guess this is why I'm not allowed to have pets.
(apologies to humor-impaired kitten lovers everywhere...)
haha
I should have read the review by bugsydude ... :-(
Resistors easily slip through the dividers because the lid does not tightly seal the compartments.
Only get this for larger components such as IC, switches, LED, 7-Segment displays, etc.
Small parts such as diodes, resistors, and some transistors would NOT stay separated for long. :-(
It's a good idea but this box still needs some work. There's some space between the lid and the compartments, and small components end up mixing with each other upon tilting or flipping.
There's an easy fix for that if you're willing to invest a few minutes. Just get some duct tape and paste it along the edges of the compartment walls to make up for the missing height. Paste it on both sides of each wall to avoid it sticking to the lid and components. A wide paper duct tape is probably the easiest to handle for this. A bit ugly, but does the job.
but seriously you guys should carry these: http://www.dfrobot.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=48&product_id=669
I dont think the red/pink and baby blue is workin too much
The straps come in a variety of colors. It varies what we get from the supplier.
By looking at the picture this new parts box seems to have 9 compartments not 13.
Didn't you hear? 9 is the new 13! beer
WOAH! New pink+SF red Color Scheme!
Technically it's a translucent white lid - but it sure does come out looking very, very pink :)
Are any of these nice parts boxes suitable for static-sensitive devices? Can you get such things?
Take some rubber gasket strips with adhesive backing and create a gasket between each compartment by applying the strips to the lid. Align them with the divider walls. You will still have the see-through lid and will isolate each compartment so that those sneaky parts cannot migrate.
