Check it out as Pete crafts his own time machine.
Welcome to yet another edition of "According to Pete." Today, our Director of Engineering Pete Dokter explores the possibility of time travel. The results, to say the least, are stunning. Check it out:

As always, feel free to leave any questions or suggestions in the comments section below. And please remember an encounter with your future-self could create a time paradox, the result of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space-time continuum and destroy the entire universe! Granted, that's worst-case scenario. The destruction might in fact be very localized, limited to merely our own galaxy.
Safe travels!
And that children, are why drugs are bad !
And it wasn't until coming into work this morning that I remembered what CO had just legalised !
You got it wrong you have to be going 22MPH FASTER THAN TIME while using the Arduino to divide the target time travel speed(s/s) by zero. (negative numbers for reverse time travel) Otherwise you will only travel at a rate of 1s/s
also your capacitor values were too low
Your accelerometer is inverted. You actually need to travel DOWN at 22 mph.
Oh, and trust Gary Busey - he never cheated and stole other people's inventions ;)
You missed a great opportunity to teach Kirchhoff's Current Law. One node with 3 identical currents going into it. "i + i + i = 0" means that "3i = 0" and "3 = 0". The flux capacitor proves that 3 = 0 (for extremely small values of 3).
Damn. That is good.
On an entirely unrelated note, it's April 1st... ;)
DANG! You missed it! You totally missed it. You have a video department. You have a guy who is knowledgable in After Effects. You have a green screen. You totally missed it. I was waiting for the payoff and it never came. Man. I wanted to see that car go in reverse, then flash out of the screen. But... that's the visual effects guy in me... Pete your videos rock. Ignore my rant above, and keep em comin'.
BTW, will the time cube be in kit form?
Pete, is the code for this project available ? How much current does it take ? Can you send one or more free ? I think the micro has to stay perfectly still as you accelerate or Brownian motion will disrupt any helpful flow. Edison (mostly marketing) got all of his best ideas from his lab genius Charles Batchelor (Tesla's bud). Instead of a cube, I'd like to try your schematic out with a Lissajous sphere as one MUST obey Paschen's law or the Townsend discharge will ionize in a way that doesn't take advantage of the valence bands energy gap. If you want to witness this phenomena, just put some color changing UV sensitive filament in your 3D printer and make a Faraday cage for any ol' Coulomb counting amplifier and operate it just before saturation. Busey has a lovely smile but his logic is suspect.
Let Rob try this when he gets back from Chernobyl. Sometimes a little radiation makes all the difference.
Figuring out the current path in that resistor cube will make you feel like you are time traveling. But not to the past I'm afraid.
You need to have it make a Tardis sound!! The sound is critical Pete! I too had a dream of a spark fun employee inventing time travel. All I heard was the Dr., who said it's alll about the sound!
It will make the tardis sound automatically if you are both going at exactly 22mph relative to the time vortex and the car is also bigger on the inside. ;-) The hard part is, of course, being able to see where the time vortex is...
Gary is a nut job....... you should have trusted Thomas.
That's not what Busey told me.
I think you needed some of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TuhYd9L_d7w
But be careful where you put it. If the unilateral phase detractors aren't in the right place near the time cube... it could be very bad.
Was than an Audi-no?
Well your forgetting your turbo encabulator! instead of me explaining here's the datasheet :)

I don't think sparkfun has a breakout board for that yet so connecting the 15 technetium-platinum-silver alloy wires needed to control the non logarithmic flapper drive would be a pain
It is too bad some of the tricks of the trade get dropped from the engineering curriculum. The classic time travel shortcut is through the chronosynclastic infundibulum and everyone used to know how to make an Object Compass to find it (see Scientific American, Amateur Scientist, April 1952).
Then there are the secrets in "Gravity's Rainbow". Yes, you have to read the whole book - twice.
Looks shopped.
Does it has to be an European car ...?
That was funny... :D
Hahahaha
This is great. You should add it to https://humour.sparkfun.com
We're an American company. I think there's a government agency that'll come after us if we spell humor with an extra u.
auto redirect between eachother: https://humour.sparkfun.com https://humor.sparkfun.com
Even better: https://humor.sparkfun.com with a mirror at https://humour.sparkfun.co.uk. =)
Im not sure what i saw there. Did you go backward in time or forward? You looked younger, but your hair grew.
Can't wait for the Friday product post on this and the tutorial.
