First off, we wanted to say thank you for all of you that came out to the SparkFun Autonomous Vehicle Competition this past weekend. I think all those in attendance will agree it was easily one of the best AVCs yet. The weather was fantastic, the location was beautiful, the crowd rowdy and - most importantly - the bots performed admirably. We will have a full recap post (with video and photos) coming soon, but we just wanted to say thanks for making the AVC awesome. We hope we'll see all of you (and more) next year.
We also wanted to post a reminder about an upcoming class. At our last Simon PTH Class, many of the attendees requested we host a Simon SMD Class, so we checked out our schedule and added one to the calendar. So at SparkFun HQ on July 17th, from 6 - 9ish p.m. we'll be hosting our Simon SMD class, where we will teach you the lifelong skill of surface mount soldering. We promise that, at the end of the workshop, you will be able to perform SMD soldering - and we won't let you leave until you can! You can sign up here. Hope you can join us!
Best. AVC. EVER! Everyone really knocked it out of the park this year - from everyone at Sparkfun to all of the teams competing to the great crowd of 1000+. It was an amazing event, and a perfect day. There was even a dunking booth controlled by a mini-trampoline triggered Simon game. And rumor has it some jerk even dunked the boss. Signed, That jerk
Thanks for the dunk ;) http://t.co/wMR3K6dspC
I've been to every AVC (except for 1), and this was by far the best one. A nice open area allowed for an awesome time. The aerials were great to watch (especially Japandrones and his ability to not look at it and explain what it was doing to the crowd). The ground had some clever bots (the balancing ones were impressive). Can't forget the free swag!
I've made this suggestion to every SFE employee I could, and I will mention it here. Next year, if it is at the Boulder Reservoir again, autonomous boats with the aerial and they can earn extra points by shooting and hitting each other.
Congrats and kudos to everyone involved. It was the best way to spend a Saturday.
Saturday was my first AVC. I brought my teenage grandson and his (reluctant) female teenage friend. We only stayed though lunch, but even the reluctant teenager was impressed and thought it all was cool. I want to thank Sparkfun for an awesome event that was amazingly planned and run! I thought it was one of the best ways to spend a Saturday morning, Although I did not compete, I will shoot for entering next year. JohnK
Let me be the first to congratulate all the contestants! Can't wait to see the videos!
I had a great time! Thanks Sparkfun you did a great job running this event.
Sometimes I wish I lived in Boulder, so I could participate in all this :).
We had people from all across the globe there (including competitors), so living in Boulder isn't a prerequisite!
