Our third and final Power Switch releases today, and this one is equipped with two USB-C connectors.
Hello everyone and welcome back to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics. This week, we have our third and final Soft Power Switch for you, and this one is equipped with USB-C connectors! That's right, you've seen our Qwiic version and our JST 2mm version, now we have a third and final option for you to choose from. Remember people, options are good!
The SparkFun Soft Power Switch is a passive, hard on/off switch with software feedback and control via USB-C connectors.
The SparkFun Soft Power Switch is a passive, hard on/off switch with software feedback and control. In other words, it's like a laptop on/off switch. A simple press will turn the system on. Another press can (with MCU intervention) turn off the system. And if things go wrong, pressing and holding the button for ~10 seconds will force a power-down. If you're building something with an enclosed Thing Plus board and need a good power button, this is the board you need. This version has two USB-C connectors, but we also have a version with JST 2mm battery connectors.
The Soft Power Switch is reliable and efficient, based on a robust, fully digital design from Texas Instruments. It features a self-resetting 2A fuse for overcurrent protection, input and output LEDs for visual feedback, and an incredibly low quiescent current draw to conserve battery power.
That's it for this week. As always, we can't wait to see what you make! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another! We'll be back with more new products next week so make sure to check back then. Happy hacking!
