Products, products, products! We've got a whirlwind of new products this week, and a special guest engineer explaining his new shield. Check it out.

I've been trying to get Nate to do a video for awhile. When his Weather Shield was ready to sell, I begged and pleaded. He begrudgingly agreed, so of course we made a pun out of his name. That's how we roll.
Need a display for your BeagleBone Black? Check out the new capes from 4D Systems. They come in a 4.3" and 7" and turn your BBB into a color touchscreen. These are ideal for creating an integrated visual interface.
We've been selling the all-in-one Weather Board for some time now, but what if you want it in a shield? Introducing, the Weather Shield! It includes sensors for humidity, barometric pressure, temperature, and light. It even mates directly to our weather meters and a GPS module. We have a complete hookup guide to get you started too.
This classroom pack from Bare Conductive provides you with everything you need to teach and engage up to 30 participants of any age the basics of circuits and electricity through the use of electrically conductive paint and crafts. It includes 30 robot greeting cards, 10 conductive paint pens, and all the parts you need to complete all 30 greeting cards.
We have a new version of the sensor kit out this week. It includes a bunch of new sensors like the HTU21D, MPL3115A2, and many more! We've hand-picked our favorite sensors for the new version and even dropped the price. If you just NEED to sense something, this kit has your name all over it.
The wheel encoder kit from Dagu attaches to motor shafts and gives you the ability to detect wheel rotation for precise positioning. Magnetic discs attach to the motor's shaft and have eight poles which are detected by hall-effect sensors. This is the easiest and most economical way to add an encoder to your robot. Each kit comes with everything you need for two wheels. These work great for the multi-chassis kits.
We meant to order these clear bumpers, but got black instead. So, for a limited time, we will be carrying both black and clear. They come in packs of five, and make great bumpers for enclosures.
Lastly, we have another mis-ship. We normally carry common cathode 7-segment displays, but we got a shipment of common anode instead. So we have these 20mm red 7-segment displays while supplies last.
OK, that's it for this week. Be sure to check back again next week because we're going to have even more stuff, I promise. Thanks for reading and watching!
Nice one, Nate!! But I'd really like to see that righteous neck beard grow. I'm betting you could give Robert a run for his money.
I know better than to challenge a professional.
My vote is to stop using the low-level background music in these new product posts. I find it very distracting while I'm watching the video. Maybe others like it, but that's my 2 cents...
I change my mind about whether or not to add music in these videos about every 6 months. Most videos of this nature have some sort of background music to break things up, but I agree it can be distracting. The best I can say is that future videos may or may not have music in them :)
Out of curiosity, what is the background music?
That weather shield is nice and all, but I want to interface to one of these - http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbthreads/attachments/1795369-ForecastingStone.jpg - as it has greater measuring capabilities. Snow, fog, and earthquakes: how cool is that? Only thing is I can't get any data on those stones. What I/O voltage? Clock speed? Communication protocol? Can anyone help me out?
Don't worry so much about the details. Just plug it into a large capacity logger: http://www.loadcalcpro.com/images/loggers_df.jpg
That appears to be an analog device. Try throwing some op-amps at it, that might help.
That would be a challenge to interface, but we have great faith in you!
We have wild winter winds here in Colorado. A nearby farmer has a wind gauge on his mailbox, consisting of a cinder block hanging by a chain with a calibrated protractor at the top.
It is very good.
Love Nate's shirt! "Shrodinger's Cat - Wanted Dead AND Alive". - As Shrodinger postulated, If you don't know then its both:-)
I don't get it. Why do you sell the mis-ships? Why don't you just send them back to the vendor? Why tie money up in a product that might not sell?
Often, it's not worth the cost to send it back to the vendors to get them replaced with the proper materials.
Many times we do get reimbursed from the supplier and they send us the right thing afterwards. For the items above, they weren't worth shipping back (return shipping would be expensive), so instead of tossing them or recycling them, we offer them up for sale at a discount. With the volume of products we receive daily, this happens rarely, but enough that we have to deal with it somehow.
Do the bumpers give any protection from vibration?
It also looks like the wheel encoders might work well with the redbot/magician chassis? That would be awesome, I have one and have been trying to figure out a way to get wheel encoders on it. Also, thanks for the weather shield, I'm thinking that it is time to do a weather station project!
there's not a lot of room, but it MIGHT work. it works best for the multi-chassis.
