I apologize for skipping the Robotics 101 video this week, but many people are on vacation (myself included) during the holidays, so we need a bit more time. Hopefully the gearbox assembly will tide you over until then.
We have a few more Actobotics products this week. The Channel Mount Gearboxes allow you to gear down your servo, providing more torque. You can also easily mount them inside the Actobotics channels as well. They come in three different styles: standard rotation, 360 degree rotation, and continuous rotation. Each of these come in five different gear ratios and work with standard-size servos.
Last year we started carrying the Raspberry Pi camera module. Many people were stripping off the infrared filter so they could use it for infrared photography. The Pi people saw this and decided to come out with a version with the IR filter already removed, the Pi NoIR. Check if out if you want to get into IR photography!
We also have a couple new breadboards this week. We have a HUGE one as well as a full-size one that's double the size of our standard one. The huge ones comes with banana jacks, feet, and more connection points than you know what to do with.
The Mojo Clock/Visualizer Shield is a simple add-on for the Mojo v3 FPGA development platform. This shield's primary purpose is to give you with a great way to get started with FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) development by providing an easy to set up real-time clock and audio visualizer. This shield is equipped with two 8x8 RGB LED matrices with full 24 bit color that connect directly to the Mojo's I/O pins and a microphone and light sensor that connect to the Mojo's analog inputs.
Lastly, we have a new (minor) revision of the Tiny AVR programmer. The new version now has a 6-pin header at the end, in addition to the other header.

The actobotics stuff all looks nice, but have you considered selling them in sets instead of just individual parts? Actobatics would be a perfect way for me to put together a low cost linear actuator, but I am sure I would end up paying for shipping 3 times before I got all of the right screws and connectors.

I probably shouldn't admit this, I almost bought the servo gearbox on an impulse before I even knew what it was. It's just so pretty and I guess I'm a sucker for shiny metallic objects.
Sparkfun should start carrying the Hitech HSR-1425CR for people who are too lazy to open the servo case to detach the potentiometer.
I hate to be nitpicky but it annoyed me that you kept saying you were increasing the "power", you're not increasing the power with that gearset, you're increasing the torque. The power output capability should remain roughly the same as power is rpm x torque, all you've done is trade off rpm for torque.

You made a mistake @3:02 explaining the gear ratio. Listing again. You say for every 1 turn of the brass gear you get 5 turn of the aluminium gear. It's the opposite. :)
Sooooo...Can I fly to Sparkfun HQ, have access to all the robotics parts and a work space, build my robot out of these awesome parts then just have you keep a tally of what I used while building it and then just pay on the way out? :-)

So when is this new Tiny AVR Programmer going to actually be in stock? You got me all excited then dashed my hopes quite expertly.
It went live earlier this week but it looks like it sold out pretty quick. We are currently building up some more stock so it should be back pretty soon. :)
