New Versions of JetBot and Thermocouple Breakouts

The JetBot Kit v2.0 was released earlier this week, but we also have two new Thermocouple Amps and Current Sensor Breakouts available!

Welcome back! We have five new products to show off this week. Our first new product actually released on Wednesday – the new SparkFun JetBot v2.0. This new version of the AI robotics kit has quite a few new features and one caveat that you can read about on our release blog. Second up are two versions of a Thermocouple Amplifier, one with a PCC Connector and the other with a basic screw terminal. Rounding out the week we have two current sensors from KR Sense.

Before we get to new products, happy almost Pi Day! We realize that Pi has more numbers than just 3.14… so in honor of those other digits, we’re offering two new Raspberry Pi 4 Basic Kits and running a weekend-long sale today through Monday, 3/16! Check out the new sale page for all Pi Day sale items and the new Weekly Deal.

Rules & Information: The sale will run from Friday, March 13 at 12:00 a.m. MT to 11:59 p.m. MT on Monday, March 16th. No rainchecks or backorders will be allowed. Distributor accounts will not be eligible for sale prices except on select items (14140, 11489, 11490, 14028, 13733). We will not be allowing the combining of orders during this sale.

Please note: We will be working hard to get as many orders out as quickly as possible, but we cannot guarantee same-day shipping during the sale day.

SparkFun JetBot AI Kit v2.0 Powered by Jetson Nano

KIT-16390
1 Retired

A new chassis, the newest version of the Jetson Nano (with two MIPI-CSI connectors) and new wheels, all for $25 less - the SparkFun JetBot AI Kit v2.0 is now available. We understand not everyone has access to multiple 3D printers on each floor and a whole warehouse of electronics, so we wanted to build a kit from ready-to-assemble parts to get you up and running as quickly as possible. This version of the SparkFun JetBot AI Kit is a great launchpad for creating entirely new AI projects for makers, students and enthusiasts who already own a Jetson Nano and are looking to take the next step with their machine learning platform.

As you saw in the video, we do plan to release JetBot v2.1 in April. You can read more about why we made this decision on our announcement blog.

The MCP9600 Breakouts are high accuracy thermocouple amplifiers equipped with an I2C interface accessed over our Qwiic system. Two versions are available: one with a PCC connector and the other with a screw terminal.

Inside the chip are two temperature sensors, one for the thermocouple itself (the hot junction) and one for the chip itself (the cold junction). As a result, the MCP9600 can read both the ambient temperature and the temperature of whatever you're trying to measure! The MCP9600 can do both with a resolution of 0.0625°C, and an accuracy of ±1.5°C (worst case). The MCP9600 Thermocouple Amplifier is one of our many Qwiic-compatible boards! Simply plug and go - no soldering, no figuring out which is SDA or SCL, and no voltage regulation or translation required!

The KR Sense 45A and 90A are small voltage and current sense breakout boards. DC current is determined by measuring a voltage drop across a parallel shunt resistor, then converting to a final analog voltage output by the INA-169. Voltage sense is accomplished by scaling to 3.3V ADC range by a precision resistor divider. The 45A version is capable of 44.7A max, while the 90A is capable of 89.4A max.

That's it for this week! As always, we can't wait to see what you make! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram or Facebook. We’d love to see what projects you’ve made!

Never miss a new product!
