Now is your chance to vote for the winner of the Ponoko/SparkFun/GeekDad competition.
A little over a month ago, we made an announcement about a competition being sponsored by Ponoko, SparkFun, and GeekDad. The competition called for inventors, hobbyists, and prototypers to submit their ideas for projects that featured Ponoko enclosures and SparkFun guts. Competitors submitted their designs to a Flickr pool - and now it's time to vote!
We received a lot of awesome entrants and you have to choose a winner! Go here to cast your vote! Is it going to be the Pizza Leveler or the Braille Embosser? Wire Words or the MicroCNC Mill? Maybe another one of the outstanding projects? It's a tough choice - and there can only be one winner! Vote now!
Wait a sec, you are showing a picture of one of the projects that didn't make the top 10 as the front page picture... Huh? --And I must add, why in the world is the Chess Bot not in the top 10? The kid that built it is friggin' 16, yo! 16 and he taught himself to code, built and coded the whole thing, I mean, c'mon! I don't care if there is no check-box for him, I VOTE FOR PAT!
Version One letsmakerobots (dot) com/node/11007
Version Two letsmakerobots (dot) com/node/20833
I kind of did that on purpose - didn't want to sway any voters by putting a picture of one of the top ten. However, I personally agree that his project is very awesome.
Wot,how come you are so insensitive to show the Chess Bot (front page) without even mentioning its Awesome creator Patrick Maccabe of letsmakerobots fame.
Its clear that Patrick's amazing Chess Bot is in a different league to the other entries (er-hum correct me if i am wrong - some of the other entries where just sketches).
I Vote for Pat
I agree with Gareth..
I agree, I'm a 32 year old professional programmer and even thinking about trying to make one of those give me nightmares. Kudos to Pat, he has my vote too!
I vote for the Chess Bot too! For it's extraordinary construction and coolness! Way to go Patrick!
Shame, Sparkfun, shame.
Seconded. I think Sparkfun is about to get a can of whoop-arsh opened on it by both SOR and LMR for this oversight.
I see a foosball table in the background. Perhaps it could be a robot foosball table?
the "DSC01806"
cnc machine
very cool!!!
The voting appears to have been hijacked by the same type that "buys" $100 worth of Green LEDS on free day. Sigh.
Also the MicroCNC mill is a completed project - but appears in the list as a sketch? About the only thing I would personally use...
I would go so far as to wonder if the Chinese aren't cooking our goose because our College students are too busy frying their gourds? really - The best we can do with robots is move beer cans from A to B?
Bart Display was most simple, and functional concept. Gets you the info you need. Maybe too expensive to implement.
Mini-fridge Beer Dispenser is in the lead!
I guess the entrants with good designs should have made them do something with beer to even the playing field. NO WAY the Dispenser should win.
What were the criteria for selection of the top 10? I'm of course extremely biased, but I'm a little disappointed that my design didn't make it...
Alas!
Wall Tetris FTW!
I really like the BART Display, simple idea but quitte useful.
Got my vote ;).
+1 Wall Tetris!!
+2 !
