Hello and welcome back to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! We have quite a few products to get through this week, starting with a brand new addition to our MicroMod ecosystem - the Ethernet Function board that does feature PoE! Following that, we are going to look at three new SparkX boards, including two new smôl boards and a 1.8V Adapter board for Qwiic. We'll wrap up the week with another look at the Arduino Uno Mini Limited Edition. Now, let's take a closer look at all of this week's new products!
Integrate your MicroMod project into an Ethernet network that includes Power over Ethernet with the SparkFun MicroMod Ethernet Function Board. This specialized Function Board uses the W5500 Ethernet control module from WIZnet and a DC/DC converter to configure a MicroMod assembly as a connected and powered device into an Ethernet network with a Power over Ethernet (PoE) system.
Our Qwiic Connect System is designed to help you quickly interface development boards and breakouts in your project or prototype. One way the Qwiic system achieves this is by standardizing on a single bus voltage of 3.3 Volts. This means that any Qwiic-compatible board that's based on a 1.8V part has an on-board voltage regulator and logic level translator. But what if you have a 1.8V part with no breakout board and you need to get integrated into your Qwiic project? No worries! This Qwiic 1.8V Adapter supplies 1.8V at up to 300mA as well as bi-directional logic level translation so that you can connect your Qwiic system to any 1.8V I²C part you can find!
The smôl Environmental Peripheral Board from SparkX brings three versatile, low-power sensors to your smôl ecosystem: the BME280 for Pressure, Humidity and Temperature, the SGP40 for VOC Air Quality, and the VEML7700 for Ambient Light (Lux).
The smôl Scale is a smôl-format board for the NAU7802 that allows you to easily read load cells so you can accurately measure the weight of an object. By connecting the board to your microcontroller, you will be able to read the changes in the resistance of a load cell and, with some calibration, you'll be able to get very accurate weight measurements. This can be handy for creating your own industrial scale, process control, presence detection or bee hive weight monitoring and logging system!
In celebration of the most popular Arduino board, the Uno, Arduino has made an Arduino Uno Mini! Featuring similar specs to the full-sized Uno and based on the ATMega328 microcontroller, this board is just as capable and is a neat memento for those of us who love the board and brand.
That's it for this week. As always, we can't wait to see what you make. Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another, and we'll see you next week with even more new products!
