A little while back we posted about our upcoming trip to the city that never sleeps (New York, that is) for the World Maker Faire at the New York Hall of Science. We are starting to get really excited for the trip so we wanted to do this post as a reminder to come check out our booth.
Once again we are going to be running our soldering workshops. We always look forward to meeting with some of our customers and fellow makers, so it should be a great time. The faire will take place on September 17th and 18th, 2011. It will run Saturday from 10 AM to 7 PM and from 10 AM to 6 PM on Sunday, so make sure to stop by! You can buy tickets at the Maker Faire website or day of the event. Hope to see you out there!
how about a Phoenix/Temper/Handler AZ area maker faire? but not between may and October :-)
Can't go. Coincides with release of friendship is magic.
will you guys be selling anything at the MakerFaire?
Here on the east coast we were hit pretty hard by Hurricane Irene (the NYC subway system is underwater). Is Maker Faire still on?
Yes it is - and we'll be there!
Their website http://makerfaire.com/newyork/2011/ looks like it is still on for now.
My daughter and I are so excited to be going to Makers Faire NYC. This will be our first Makers Faire. Can't wait. You can see a list of makers attending here http://makerfaire.com/newyork/2011/makerinfo/ but you have to browse one of the categories and it seems a bit slow.
Does anyone have any recommendations (or warnings) for places to stay in the area? Family of 5..
I live/work in New York area. For a family of 5 I'd recommend staying in Manhattan. Flushing Meadows doesn't ahem exactly offer the best parts of New York city. If it's your first time I'm sure your family would have much more fun in Manhattan. To get out to Maker Faire you can take the 7 train from Midtown (I think it's $2.25 per person). It's probably about a 30 minute subway ride with a good view of queens and the Manhattan skyline.
Also, just to set expectations NYC hotels can be shockingly expensive (and small).
Any other questions just shout.
You can find a full list here. The highest rated hotel appears to be the Sheraton Laguardia East Hotel.
