You don’t have to worry about adding a resistor to an LED if you get an LED with a built in resistor! This pack contains 20x 5mm LEDs in four different colors. There are five LEDs per color in blue, red, green, and yellow.
This pack will help alleviate any frustrations you’ve had with accidentally burning them out, just by having a resistor in the diode itself! Each LED has an operating voltage range of 3.0V to 5V to help make your next project shine!
Each pack of these LEDs are conveniently bagged in reusable ESD safe packaging to make sure nothing accidentally gets damaged before you are able to use them.

If you look closely at the image below, there is a small, black square IC on the post to limit the current on these types of LEDs.
For more information, check out our LED tutorial.
If it requires power, you need to know how much, what all the pins do, and how to hook it up. You may need to reference datasheets, schematics, and know the ins and outs of electronics.
Skill Level: Rookie - You may be required to know a bit more about the component, such as orientation, or how to hook it up, in addition to power requirements. You will need to understand polarized components.

Having an internal resister reduced my PCB parts count and saved space. I liked the colors and only wished there were also clear (white) ones included. All worked well.

Because of the built-in resistor, these can be connected directly to a BBC micro:bit or other microcontroller's output pin with a couple of alligator clips and they won't draw too much current (only about 5 mA). The clear lens causes them to throw a focused beam of colored light which can be useful to experiment with color mixing. I haven't seen LED's with built in resistors anywhere else. A minor downside to the clear lens is that if you have mix of colors you need to test each LED to find out what color it is, but for kids that process can be fun.

I don't know how long I have wished to have a 5 volt LED without and external resistor. You would think that every electronics guy would say the same. These LEDs are very bright, in fact at 5 volts they are brilliant. Wonderful product.
The LEDs worked as advertised. My only issue is that they're clear colored which makes them inconvenient to identify. I can live with it!

Lovely, saturated colors. I often add a resistor to the blue led because it is so bright. These are obviously breadboard friendly but they end up in my finished projects.
So operating voltage says 3-5V but the example pictures use a 9V battery .
What is the resistor value for each color?
Also white will be great to have!
