If you need maximum distance for your LoRa project you need this incredibly durable, outdoor antenna with 5.8dBi gain. This 902-928MHz antenna is 90cm / 35.5" long and includes hardware for pole mounting. Made of fiberglass and aluminum this antenna is ideal for heavy-duty and high-power LoRa base stations but can be used with LoRa nodes as well.
Antenna has a type N male termination. When mounted vertically this shrouded connector helps prevent against water and weather build-up on the threads.
Note: This antenna doesn't ship with a cable. We recommend the N to RP-SMA interface cable to connect the antenna to an RP-SMA connector. If you need to go further to U.FL checkout our RP-SMA to U.FL cable.
If it requires power, you need to know how much, what all the pins do, and how to hook it up. You may need to reference datasheets, schematics, and know the ins and outs of electronics.
Skill Level: Noob - You don't need to reference a datasheet, but you will need to know basic power requirements.

Works perfectly with my original hotspot HNT miner. Got it professionally installed outside my house by a local antenna installation company. Needed a proxicast lightning arrestor, grounding wire, LMR-400 cable, mount for outside the house, and power extension cable besides the antenna.
Since I'm in the city, it increased my earnings by about 3-5x from what I used to get before. It was very exciting to see many more witnesses an hour or two after we asserted its location again. This antenna is the same as the RAK wireless 5.8dBi one, but it arrived faster than the one I ordered directly from RAK. I've ordered Arduinos/random stuff from SparkFun before so I didn't expect any issues with shipping or delivery.
If you're looking for an antenna to boost your potential HNT earnings and extend your capability, I would recommend this product. However, not all results are normal and you should definitely use HotspotRF and other tools to determine if it would be right for your situation. Thank you Sparkfun for having something like this available! Happy mining!
Excellent antenna for Helium hotspot, the construction quality is one of the best and the performance is excellent. I got some amazon 5.8 and 8 dBi that I had to replace it with this antenna because after 1 or 2 months rewards decrease almos to 0 HNT. All my HS with Sparkfun antenna keep the reward steady and the neighbors up. I use this antena type with Sensecap M1 and Bobcat HS.
Is there a datasheet or other technical specification available for this antenna?
Is it possible to extend range by using this large antenna on a base station and a much smaller antenna in a vehicle?

Unfortunately, this is kind of a "loaded" question without the pertinent information. Also, that isn't quite how antennas work; especially, if your "smaller" antenna has a decrease in gain. It is probably more likely that it would decrease the range of the system. For more information look up an RF propagation, this article has some good basics.
