Development Board with Onboard Programmer

Replacement: None. How can there be a replacement for the first product we've ever carried? We miss you product #1.

This board is everything you need for getting started with PIC microcontrollers. It has an on board power supply voltage regulator circuit, microcontroller's reset circuit, 20 MHz crystal oscillator circuit, I2C accessible EEPROM memory, RS232 serial port interface, and In-Circuit-Serial-Programming (ICSP) on the second port. This is an excellent feature that allows you to burn and run without ever having to pull the chip or change cables. New model 'D' has an ICSP header. The PG4D can now be used as a programmer - functionally the same as the PIC-PG1 or PG2C.

Caution: The programmer may not work with low power serial interfaces - i.e. laptop or notebook serial ports. USB to serial cables have also not been proven to work.

We do have a few people here who try to read all the customer comments on product pages. Sometimes we miss stuff and sometimes we respond behind the scenes, but we see everything you do! Mwahahaha!

  • This is my first comment and the first Sparkfun board! Sparkfun's gone along way since this, but it's good to go to your roots every one in a while.
