Conductive thread is a creative way to connect various electronics onto clothing. This thread can carry current for power and signals. While not as conductive as traces on a printed circuit board (PCB), this thread makes wearable clothing 'wearable'!
This thread is stainless steel making it extremely tarnish resistant. This thicker 6-ply thread gives it the ability to conduct much more power. Because of its thickness this thread is often laid on a fabric and then held in place with a over-stitch of non-conductive machine sewable thread.
This thread has a very low resistance of about 4 Ohms per linear foot and weighs about 0.35 ounces for the full 50 feet.
Whether it's for assembling a kit, hacking an enclosure, or creating your own parts; the DIY skill is all about knowing how to use tools and the techniques associated with them.
Skill Level: Noob - Basic assembly is required. You may need to provide your own basic tools like a screwdriver, hammer or scissors. Power tools or custom parts are not required. Instructions will be included and easy to follow. Sewing may be required, but only with included patterns.

I used the conductive thread to add touch screen sensitive spots to my gloves. I liked the gloves I already had but wanted to be able to use my phone without taking them off. I sewed spots of the thread onto the thumb and index finger of the right glove and they work great on the phone! The only problem is that I didn't get the spots in exactly the right place so I will redo it to improve the way the gloves work. I had no problem using this thread with a standard sewing needle.
I did not think this stuff would be so difficult to handle. If you're hand sewing, get something thinner! Conducts really well though.
You can absolutely fold, twist, weave, knit, knot, or whatever else you'd like to do with this without worrying about it breaking. It's very, very flexible, like an embroidery thread, not at all like a wire.
Can this be folded and twisted without breaking? Will I have to expect some up resistance while doing this? Thanks!
