Here is a simple fiber optic receiver. Use it to receive data or audio across fiber optic cables. We also have the matching transmitter listed in the related products below. Fiber optics are beneficial when you need isolation from either a noisy environment, underwater, or where a direct electrical connection is not desirable.
Check the provided example code below. It is just a simple example showing how these can work. The code works by sending and receiving a single character. Remember the minimum rate data rate for these is 0.1Mbps

The transmitter is deprecated. Are these getting phased out?
I must say I was very skeptical with that of rate data, but, it's true!!!!!!!!!, I was a video where I make a test with different frecuencies. Enjoy:

Hey, shouldn't these be transceivers? Seeing how the fiber optic line is a shared resource (mulitplexeable and bi-directional)
Or are these a simple one-way send/receive? So we would need 2 of each for bi-directional comms.?
These are fiber optic receivers for digital audio data (S/PDIF) transmitted over optical interconnects, not general fiber optics communications for something like internet access. They are one-way because data is streamed without feedback, and the clock derived via a PLL on the receiver end.
I don't get why the minumum data rate is 0.1Mbps. What would create such a minimum value?
This is because these TX/RX pair work with modulated optical signals (NRZ). Any modulated optical signal below 0.1Mbps registers as all optical high or low in which case the output is undetermined.

Since this is a receiver, that doesn't make much sense.
For a new product posted on a Friday, only one error in the post is actually pretty good for SFE.
Anyway, it looks like the compatible optical cables for these can be found for a penny each over at amazon.com (search for "toslink cable").
Psh, it's pretty good for almost anyone.
