Tool Kit - Beginner
This assortment of tools is great for those of you who are new to soldering. We've found our favorite, low-cost tools, and created a kit that we would give to our friends. While these tools might not be enough for more difficult, surface-mount type assembly, they should be just what you need for through-hole soldering.
This time around we've kitted all the tools together in our spiffy new SparkFun branded packaging and added our SparkFun Saftey Glasses. Go hack something!

- Solder Wick #2 5ft. - If you've never used wick before, this will save your ~~life~~ project.

Tool Kit - Beginner Product Help and Resources
Core Skill: Soldering
This skill defines how difficult the soldering is on a particular product. It might be a couple simple solder joints, or require special reflow tools.
Skill Level: Noob - Some basic soldering is required, but it is limited to a just a few pins, basic through-hole soldering, and couple (if any) polarized components. A basic soldering iron is all you should need.

Core Skill: DIY
Whether it's for assembling a kit, hacking an enclosure, or creating your own parts; the DIY skill is all about knowing how to use tools and the techniques associated with them.
Skill Level: Noob - Basic assembly is required. You may need to provide your own basic tools like a screwdriver, hammer or scissors. Power tools or custom parts are not required. Instructions will be included and easy to follow. Sewing may be required, but only with included patterns.

Why lead free solder whyyyyyyyyyyyy!
I haven't had any trouble using the lead free solder with this iron.
Neither have I. I have to say that lead free solder is just as good. I have to solder in my room, so not having to inhale the lead fumes is a good thing. (It actually smells better!) I'll probably be buying lead-free solder from now on.
Much tastier... Just kidding, don't eat the solder. On the other hand we have a lot of students etc. buying kits, and we like to keep them (and all our customers safe). While we realize no one is buying this kit to assemble production level boards that need to be RoHS compliance, we'd like to see a little less lead in our landfills, not to mentioned being ingested when eating that sandwich in the lab. Also, the solder is pretty good and easy to work with.
Don't eat it? You should have told me that earlier!
And this friends is why we put lead-free solder in the kits!
