Genuino 101

The Genuino 101 is a learning and development board that delivers the performance and low-power consumption of the Intel® Curie module with the simplicity of Arduino at an entry-level price. This development platform keeps the same robust form factor and peripheral list of the UNO with the addition of onboard Bluetooth LE capabilities and a 6-axis accelerometer/gyro to help you easily expand your creativity into the connected world.

The Intel® Curie module contains two tiny cores, an x86 (Quark) and a 32-bit ARC architecture core, both clocked at 32MHz. The Intel toolchain compiles your Arduino sketches optimally across both cores to accomplish the most demanding tasks. The Genuino 101 comes with 14 digital input/output pins (of which 4 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a USB connector for serial communication and sketch upload, a power jack, an ICSP header with SPI signals and I2C dedicated pins. The board operating voltage and I/O is 3.3V but all pins are protected against 5V overvoltage.

Note: The Genuino 101 is only available for customers in Canada and the EU. If you are located in the United States be sure to check out the Arduino 101 instead. Sorry, world!

Note: The Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and framework developed by Intel is scheduled to be open sourced in March 2016. Until then, it's not possible to interface with it directly; only the Arduino core can do it via static mailboxes.

Genuino 101 Product Help and Resources

Core Skill: Programming

If a board needs code or communicates somehow, you're going to need to know how to program or interface with it. The programming skill is all about communication and code.

2 Programming

Skill Level: Rookie - You will need a better fundamental understand of what code is, and how it works. You will be using beginner-level software and development tools like Arduino. You will be dealing directly with code, but numerous examples and libraries are available. Sensors or shields will communicate with serial or TTL.

Core Skill: Electrical Prototyping

If it requires power, you need to know how much, what all the pins do, and how to hook it up. You may need to reference datasheets, schematics, and know the ins and outs of electronics.

2 Electrical Prototyping

Skill Level: Rookie - You may be required to know a bit more about the component, such as orientation, or how to hook it up, in addition to power requirements. You will need to understand polarized components.

Why is this not available in australia??? >:(

Sorry about that, we are selling these everywhere Arduino LLC will allow us to. Check out some local stores (if you don't know of any check out our distributor page), they may have some in stock.

tronixlabs.com.au will have stock from 21/1/16

@LordPhobos Little Bird Electronics have the Genuino 101 available in Australia right now: http://littlebirdelectronics.com.au/products/genuino-101

  • They have a different brand depending on whether or not you live in the U.S.

For What Pvrpose? As far as I read, they are literally the same thing.

This is a result of the Trademark disagreement between Arduino LLC and Arduino SRL. Consequently they have decided to rebrand the Arduino name to Genuino in Europe as well as some other places. While we do realize that we are not able to ship boards to many places (Asia, Australia, South America, etc.) we are bound by the licensing agreements.

M-Short Mexico is North America. So, are you able to send to Mexico?

We are not, keep in mind that we sell the Arduino in the US and the Genuino in Canada, so it has nothing to do with continents. I don't know enough about Arduino LLCs Trademark issues to know whether there are being boards made for these other countries or not, I just know that our licensing agreement doesn't allow us to sell our boards there. For anyone who can't buy one from us I would check out some local stores though and see if you can find any there.

Great

Bought it to test what can be done with the 6-axis IMU and the Madgwick equations. That demo is excellent. Will after that use it for other things using the built in sensors and BLE, which is a brilliant addition to the Arduino lineup. Also like it because we are considering the Curie platform for other projects, and then the Genuino 101 is a great complement for prototyping.
