Replacement:DEV-09663. This module has been updated with a new version available here. This is the original Wiring board. We collaborated with Hernando Barragan to create a newer, better, cheaper board. The new Wiring board with ATmega1281 can be found at DEV-09663. This page is here for historical purposes.
Wiring is a programming environment and electronics i/o board for exploring the electronic arts, tangible media, teaching and learning computer programming and prototyping with electronics. It illustrates the concept of programming with electronics and the physical realm of hardware control which are necessary to explore physical interaction design and tangible media aspects.
Wiring is an open-source physical computing platform based on a simple i/o board and a development environment that implements the Processing/Wiring language. Wiring can be used to develop stand-alone interactive objects or can be connected to software on your computer (e.g. Flash, Processing, MaxMSP). The open-source IDE can be downloaded for free (currently for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux).
Board comes fully assembled and tested with ATMega128 pre-loaded with bootloader.

So what's the advantage of this over the Arduino?
More IO Pins, Now nearly the same as the Arduino Mega. Wiring is not as big anymore.
