The EPIC is probably the best use of an old hard drive that I have seen in years, Definitely beats the old platter clock idea, any chance you guys would post the plastic cut dimensions? Would love to make one for our school science program.

I knew people were goona want to know about the enclosure, They are called PAC TEC enclosures. You can find them online in Penn. I have bought a few from the mfg. they are great and you can get free samples too.

I think it's great that sparkfun allows IT to do deploys in the middle of the day, When I worked for comcast rights after AT&T sold it to them. All of us IT guys had to work the graveyard shift in order to deploy all of our updates.

Actually, there is no fault with the SFE product. It is the computer that cannot supply enough current to the device. Remember USB interface is limited to a max of 500ma current overall, not per port. So you may need to unplug other devices from the computer.
