Get hands-on with embedded machine learning in this virtual workshop - collect data, build your first models, test and deploy them using Edge Impulse and Nordic’s nRF52840.
In this workshop, you'll learn how to classify different physical motions and body positions using the SparkFun MicroMod Machine Learning Carrier Board and the Nordic nRF52840 MicroMod Controller Board. You will collect and train your machine learning model using Edge Impulse. Finally you will deploy your own custom model back to the hardware and integrate it with free Nordic mobile phone tools to get the data off of the board and useful for development.

Louis started his career developing a low-power and GPS-based IoT solution to protect rhinos in an African conservancy. He is now working at Edge Impulse as a User Success Engineer. He has a strong interest in IoT, DIY, hybrid mobile development, cloud web apps, entrepreneurship and startups.
Ali Aljaani lives in Oslo and he is passionate about embedded systems technologies. He works at Nordic Semiconductor as a Product Marketing Engineer.
Edge Impulse is the leading development platform for embedded machine learning, used by over 1,000 enterprises across 10,000 ML projects worldwide. We are on a mission to enable the ultimate development experience for machine learning on embedded devices for sensors, audio, and computer vision, at scale. From getting started in under five minutes to MLOps in production, we enable highly optimized ML deployable to a wide range of hardware from MCUs to CPUs.
Founded in 1983, Nordic Semiconductor is a fabless semiconductor company specializing in ultra-low power wireless solutions for the IoT. We ship more than one million Bluetooth Low Energy MCUs every day and we have more than 40 % market share. Our multiprotocol MCUs support the Bluetooth mesh, Thread and Zigbee protocols, and these can run concurrently with Bluetooth Low Energy. We also offer the most compact and low power cellular IoT solution available in the market, supporting the low power cellular protocols LTE-M and NB-IoT, in addition to GPS.
Since 2003, SparkFun has been helping turn ideas into reality – whether you're creating a smart weather station, exploring the frontier of machine learning, or prototyping your first (or tenth) product. No matter your vision, our open source tools, documentation, and online tutorials make emerging technology easy to use, and the road to a finished project shorter.
