Return and Replace for Muscle Sensor v2.0.1
Thank you for your purchase of the MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor. As you have been notified, there is an issue with the board that may cause it to have a low-impedance path. Below, please find instructions on how to learn if your board is affected, get details of the issue and solution, and determine next steps.
Determine If Your Board Is Affected
To determine if your board is able to be replaced, simply look at the edge of the back of your MyoWare 2.0 Muscle sensor. If it says “v2.0.1” it is eligible for replacement and we will send you an updated board free of charge. If you have a board that says “v2.0.4” then you have an updated board and do not need a replacement.
Example: This board is marked as "v2.0.1" and needs to be returned and replaced.
Details of the Issue & Solution
Released in April of 2022, the MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor was introduced as the second iteration of the popular myoelectric sensor ecosystem developed by Advancer Tech. Post-release, we received some reports that the boards were not responding to muscle flexion. We pulled the MyoWare 2.0 sensor and kits from sale to ascertain why the boards weren’t performing as expected. We determined that some solder paste(flux) and wash water was trapped under the snaps of the MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor, which caused performance issues when active.
Once we learned why the MyoWare 2.0 boards weren’t working, we implemented the solution by: 1) changing the snap paste layer footprint and adding gaps to allow material to flow out during the manufacturing process and 2) changing the overall board thickness, so if flux tried to find a home under the snaps, it wouldn’t be able to bridge electrical connections as it had before. With these updates, we have produced a new version of MyoWare 2.0!
Next Steps to Return & Replace Your Board

To make this right, we are offering a return and replace option for all v2.0.1 versions of the MyoWare Muscle Sensor for a v2.0.4 version.

If your order was for a MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor Development Kit or MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor Basic Kit, we will only be replacing the MyoWare 2.0 Muscle Sensor and not the full kit. The full kits will not be replaced, only the affected part.
