The SparkFun Newsletter

We are (finally) sending out newsletters!

If you missed any of the newsletters and would like to check them out, head here.

Over the past four years that I've worked here, SparkFun has worked hard to expand our availability to make it easier to stay in contact with customers. We've added a Twitter account, Facebook page, Google+, YouTube, Vimeo, Flickr- basically trying to cover as many bases as possible. A lot of people choose to ignore social media (and that's just fine), but for those that use it on a daily basis, these channels provide us with just one more way to stay in touch with our customers, answer questions, and receive feedback.

One thing that we've wanted to do for a long time was an email customer newsletter. You may or may not remember, but when you signed up for your SparkFun customer account there was a little remote button that said something along the lines of "Sign me up for the newsletter!" If you clicked that button, you opted-in to receive our newsletter. But for the last few years, well - there hasn't actually been a newsletter. Not anymore!

Back in October, we sent out our first newsletter! We sent another one in November and that's looking like our schedule for the time being - once a month, we will send you a newsletter with SparkFun news, happenings, and potentially deals and specials.

Today we just wanted to let you know that this newsletter exists. If you would like to receive it, simply go to your profile settings (if you are logged in, there is a drop down arrow at the top right hand side of the screen - click it and select "Manage Account") and click the button at the bottom to "Receive Newsletter."

Rest assured we will not send you the newsletter if you didn't opt in and you're free to unsubscribe at any time.

We would love to get some feedback on what you would like to see in a newsletter from SparkFun. Please leave any suggestions in the comments section below! Thanks!

My newsletter box was checked - no newsletter. I also check spam daily.

Ditto. No emails received either. Check gmail spam folder daily. Nothing there either.

For everyone who hasn't got one, you might want to check your spam folder. Also, if you use Gmail (Gmail cleans up spam every 30 days), you might not have them anymore.

Can SFE post a link to the current newsletter somewhere on the site?

I just looked and my box was checked but no newsletter for me either.

Same for me, I didn't get 'em, not in October, not in November, and my newsletter check-box is checked. No provider spam trap either.

I got mine! Thanks, it was not too frequent and still keeping attention. Nice :)

  • I didn't even know there was a newsletter :(

    Where is said checkbox?

    • I checked - you're already on the list! The checkbox is in your account settings. You also had the option of checking it when you created your account. By default it is "unchecked."

Same here. My "Receive Newsletter" box is already checked, but I did not get any of the October or November or December newsletters.

    • Hm, that's odd. I can't find you in our subscriber list. I'll get to the bottom of it. Thanks for the feedback!

Same again here, mine was ticked already, but I've never gotten them. Nothing in the spam folder and my ISP settings are supposed to not filter anything and spam filter here always notifies me of spam which I check, so I should have got it.

  • You sure the newsletter is working? My "Receive Newsletter" box is checked but there's no joy in my inbox. Same thing for the "Receive Offers" box.

Edit: Actually I'm not absolutely sure it's not being eaten by AOL spamtraps; I'll watch for it this month and let you know if it's still missing.

    • Looking at the subscriber list we sent to, you're showing up as on there. The newsletters were sent out on 10/23 and 11/20. There wasn't anything sent out this month yet. Are you sure you didn't receive them?
