This year, we've selected a handful of our favorite products that we believe make great gifts for seasoned electronics enthusiasts and beginners alike. Here's what we came up with:
The RedBot Kit is our DIY beginner robotics platform designed to help you get started in the world of robotics. This kit teaches dual motor robotics and sensor integration. Start out by creating a line-following bot, and then build onto it as you want to expand your robotics horizons.
The LilyPad MP3 board is a fairly recent addition to our inventory of wearable electronics. This board contains an Arduino-compatible microcontroller, MP3 (and many other formats) audio decoder chip, micro-SD card socket, and a stereo audio amplifier, and helps you easily add music to your next e-textiles project!
For those looking to explore Scratch programming, we have the book "Super Scratch Programming Adventure!" This book is designed to teach kids how to get started with programming and is a great jumping-off point for a lifelong love of electronics.
Next, we have the Raspberry Pi, the Beaglebone Black, the pcDuino, and the pcDuino Lite. These powerful single-board computers are sure to please!
The SparkFun Simon Says: Learn to Solder kit is designed to teach beginner soldering while building one of our most popular kits! This kit is truly designed with the beginner in mind, but makes a great gift for the pro looking to brush up on their soldering skills.
And lastly, for the music lover on your list, we have the Bleep Drum Kit. This kit not only is a fun (and simple) kit to solder together, but when you're done you'll have a fully-functioning drum kit, ready for you to drop a beat.
Best of luck with your shopping list - and happy holidays!
Dave
I have no words.
That scarf had better make it back to my desk intact, Dave.
No promises.
edit: you just want that snow suit, don't lie to yourself.
Hmmm. But it's so comfy...
Okay everyone, here's the deal:
This link leads to Dave's head and Brennen's scarf, as seen in the above photograph, but without the rest of the photograph. It's a .png on a transparent background. Do with it what you will... Then post it here.
EDIT: Something like this maybe?
I tried to do a painting of Dave, but it got out of hand. I had good intentions...
Oh I so want to do something with that scarf in a picture category that would rhyme with "corn". Something that says "Oh dear god. Not with my scarf!". But alas a non PG picture would probably get me banned.
It just might, yes.
Boy wizard ?
Challenge accepted, Nick. :-) Behold!
We had a pretty big meeting today.
Float like a butterfly, code like a bee.
I can see this ending badly...
I worry that y'all take your work way too seriously. You need to have some fun sometime...
I know what I want for Christmas now!
haha.. that was a fun and informative little video. Thanks for the laughs and gift ideas. (i.e. ideas for people asking about gifts for me..)
