Welcome back, everyone! This week has been a very special one because this past Wednesday we released the new Johnny-Five Inventor's Kit! SparkFun, together with Bocoup, built this special little kit just for you to start experiments and maybe even enter a contest.
Of course, you can't have a kit without the development board that comes with it. That's why we are happy to bring you the Tessel 2 today, as well. Let's take a closer look!
Hey you, here's Johnny!
The J5IK empowers users to build internet-connected, JavaScript-powered hardware projects by marrying the ubiquitous language with the Tessel 2 single-board computer and several components to get users started immediately. This kit:
Although the applications are limitless, the kit allows users to control and read external sensors and displays, control motors, and use and learn JavaScript.
One of the primary goals of this kit is to support software developers in going from code on the screen to making things happen in real life; conversely, the kit supports hardware developers with tools that make it easier to build web-connected projects.
The Tessel 2 is a development board with on-board WiFi capabilities that allows you to build scripts in Node.js. This Tessel provides you with a connected hardware prototyping system that can be used in multiple different applications. Each board boasts thorough command line tools that make it simple to deploy your code, set WiFi credentials and easily manage authentication needs. With the Tessel 2 you will be able to interact with the physical world from sensing to actuation to connecting with other devices. It should also be noted that, though the Tessel 2 is programmable in JavaScript, it does possess the ability to support other languages as well!
Additionally, NodeBots Day 2016 is July 30, 2016. Simplify planning and materials management by using the only kit built for NodeBots Day --- the Johnny-Five Inventor's Kit (J5IK) --- that combines the J5IK with a handful of parts to give you a complete SumoBot Kit.
Well, that's it for this week, folks. We hope you enjoy this new Inventor's Kit and if you enter into NodeBots Day, we wish you the best of luck. We'll be back next week with new add-ons for a recent purchase you might have made that should fill the need for new material. See you then!
