Hello, everyone, and welcome to your first Friday Product Post of 2018! We are all back in the office and gearing up for our Crystal Anniversary year here at SparkFun --- and we are truly excited to make this the best year yet! To start it all off, this week we bring you two new Onion Omega kits that will get you started with the easy-to-use IoT platform. We are also happy to introduce the SparkFun Inventor's Kit Lab Pack v4.0 for all of our educator friends eager to teach students about the wonders of electronics and coding with Arduino! Without further delay, let's take a closer look at these brilliant new products. Happy 2018, everyone!
Jump-start your IoT development with the Omega2+ Starter Kit. This kit includes everything you need to create eight different circuits that will teach you how to control LEDs, read inputs, control and read external sensors and displays, learn Python, and more.
Each Starter Kit includes an Onion Omega2+ IoT Computer, an Expansion Dock and a variety of electronics components that belong in the collection of every student of Internet of Things.
Take your IoT development into overdrive with the Omega2+ Maker Kit. Build the same circuits as in the Starter Kit and conduct eight additional experiments using the included Onion Expansion Boards. Experiments include controlling servos, using an H-bridge to control a DC motor, writing text and images to the OLED display, and controlling other high-powered circuits with the Relay Expansion.
This kit includes everything from the Starter Kit as well as the Relay, Servo and OLED Expansion Boards. The collection of electronics components in the Omega2+ Maker Kit includes servos, resistors, LEDs, jumper wires, switches, a 7-segment display, a buzzer and an LCD screen, to name a few.
The SparkFun Inventor's Kit Lab Pack v4.0 includes 10 complete Inventor's Kits, an SIK Refill Pack and 50 AA-sized batteries to get your students started in the world of electronics. The SIKs inside the Lab Pack have everything you need, including RedBoards, baseplates, breadboards and full-color, spiral-bound guidebooks containing step-by-step instructions with circuit diagrams and hookup tables. Each SIK comes in a handy carrying case and includes all the electronics components you need to complete five overarching projects consisting of 16 interconnected circuits that teach everything from blinking an LED to reading sensors. The culminating project is your very own autonomous robot!
SparkFun packages everything educators need to get started with this platform in a variety of classroom and makerspace settings with diverse student populations. The hardware boards, cables and extra parts come pre-packaged, and our online support materials --- including an online experiment guide --- help you bring the power of the open source community to your classroom. Examples and curriculum materials are available from SparkFun and Arduino, as well as from other educators involved in this growing maker movement.
Alright, that's it for the first Friday post of 2018. We hope these kits will help you get started in whatever you are looking to get involved in! As always, we can't wait to see what you make with these products! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram or Facebook. We’d love to see what projects you’ve made!
