Hello everyone and welcome back to another fantastic Friday Product Post. We have a gigantic Friday this week, because we have the new LulzBot Mini 2 3D printer, two new Shapeoko CNC machines, three Nomad Pro CNC machines (as well as some accessories for them), a new Qwiic distance sensor, and two revisions of our current sensor breakouts. Phew... we have a ton to get through today so let's jump in and take a closer look!
The LulzBot Mini 2 is a versatile, high-performance desktop 3D printer engineered to deliver premium results print after print. Though tiny, this 3D printer is mighty! The LulzBot Mini 2 provides you with the same wide range of features of the Taz series printers and facilitates the consistent, higher-quality prints that you know and expect. The LulzBot Mini 2 features a 20 percent larger print area at 160mm x 160mm x 180mm (6.3in x 6.3in x 7.09in), with a controllable heat bed that can print small to medium-sized items.
This SparkFun Distance Sensor Breakout utilizes the VL53L1X next generation ToF (Time of Flight) sensor module to give you highly accurate measurements at long ranges for its size. The VL53L1X uses a VCSEL (Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser) to emit an infrared laser to time the reflection to the target. That means that you will be able to measure the distance to an object from 40mm to 4 meters away, with millimeter resolution! To make it even easier to get your readings, all communication is enacted exclusively via I2C, utilizing our handy Qwiic system, so no soldering is required to connect it to the rest of your system. However, we still have broken out 0.1”-spaced pins in case you prefer to use a breadboard.
Also make sure to check out the rest of our Qwiic product line! Make I2C easy today!
The Shapeoko XL and Shapeoko XXL are here! With nearly double or quadruple the cutting area of the Shapeoko v3, you now have plenty of options for an entry-level CNC! These are entry-level CNC machine designed for hobbyists, artists and fabricators!
These are the Nomad 883 Pros, a set of highly capable and durable CNC machines in a small package. Make high-quality 2D and 3D parts out of non-ferrous metals, hardwoods and plastics from a machine about the same size as an conventional or 3D desktop printer. The Nomad 883 Pro comes in three varieties (Bamboo, Grey HDPE or White HDPE), ready to run right out of the box! It is designed to make machining easy and for everyone to enjoy. Each is fully enclosed to contain dust and noise, and has a clear front cover so you can watch your parts in the making. The end result is a very clean and quiet machine for your workshop and home.
Now, you may want to pick up a few accessories for your new Nomad 883 Pro, and that's exactly why we are carrying the next three products! This Low Profile Vice provides you with a compact workholding accessory for the Nomad 883 Pro. Each one of these vices are made from scratch, in-house at Carbide 3D, and includes everything you need to attach it to your Nomad. With the Low Profile Vice, you will be able to create miniature and small-silhouette milling projects.
The Nomad Flip Jig is a handy accessory for your Nomad 883 Pro that allows you to cut both sides of a part while maintaining perfect alignment. Each one of these jigs is precision machined to mount to the Nomad's table, and uses the CNC's built-in machine calibration to make it easy to locate while attached. That means no edge finders are required!
If you need more ways to hold material in your Nomad, this Threaded Table provides you with plenty of connection points. Each Nomad Threaded Table is approximately 8" x 8" (~203mm x ~203mm) and 1/2" (12.7mm) thick, and contains 72 M6x1 threaded holes. With as many connection points as the threaded table has, you will have plenty of possible configurations to mill and fabricate with!
