Welcome to the first new products of November - we hope you had a very fun and frightful Halloween yesterday! We have five new products to show you, and it all starts with the SIK for Arduino Uno v4.1! Like the v4.0 version, this SparkFun Inventor's Kit is smaller and lighter, making it perfect for international shipping. We also have three new heatsink enclosures that are sure to keep your Raspberry Pi 4 as cool as it needs to be under high stress operations. Rounding out the week we have a new Fan SHIM from Pimoroni that should help keep your RPi4 cool if you can't use a case. Let's jump in and see what we have!
The SparkFun Inventor's Kit (SIK) for Arduino Uno is a great way to get started with programming and hardware interaction with the Arduino programming language. The SIK includes everything you need to complete five overarching projects consisting of 16 interconnected circuits that teach everything from blinking an LED to reading sensors. The culminating project is your very own autonomous robot! No previous programming or electronics experience is required to use this kit.
This version of the SIK replaces the SparkFun RedBoard Qwiic with the Arduino Uno (SMD version) and comes without the SIK guidebook and carrying case. With these components swapped and removed, we were able to reduce the overall size and weight of the kit, making shipping cheaper and easier for anyone ordering internationally.
Why use a heatsink and case when you can use a heatsink case?! These sleek, anodised aluminium cases for the Raspberry Pi 4 will give you 10-15°C of passive cooling under a full CPU load. Three color options are available as well: black, gold, and gunmetal! These are great for situations where you want completely silent cooling, like home media centers.
Make your Raspberry Pi 4 seriously cool with the Fan SHIM from Pimoroni! This 30mm no-solder, controllable CPU fan with RGB LED and tactile switch will give your Raspberry Pi significantly better thermal performance, and it's whisper-quiet too! The Fan SHIM uses a friction-fit header, so it just slips onto your Pi's pins and it's ready to go, no soldering required!
That's it for this week! As always, we can't wait to see what you make! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram or Facebook. We’d love to see what projects you’ve made!
