First off, one quick announcement. SparkFun will be closed on Monday, September 6th for Labor Day. We'll resume normal business hours/shipping on Tuesday.
So, we recently announced a partnership with maker-extraordinare Ponoko. Basically, it works like this - you can visit Ponoko's website, and in addition to designing and ordering your very own custom enclosure, you can buy SparkFun parts. It's one less hurdle between the inception of your great idea and a finished, market-ready product. Cool!
But we've gotten a lot of questions about what you can build with Ponoko. Truthfully, the answer is - almost anything you can dream up. But it helps to have some visuals. Here are some awesome examples from Ponoko's showroom.
This first project is an awesome Robotic Arm from the folks over at Oomlout. Want one? The EPS files are free at Ponoko. This is a great example of something you could create with the combined materials of Ponoko and SparkFun.
This next project is a servo robot called Serb. This features a servo as well as an Arduino. Again, the EPS files are free on this one and you can build it by following these instructions from Instructables.
Always wanted a CNC Machine? Well, you're in luck! This is from well-known 3D printer builders MakerBot Industries and can be ordered from Ponoko (or you could design your very own if you'd like!).
This last project is called the Big Zen Lamp and is made of bamboo and rice paper. This definitely shows off the intricate designs you can make with Ponoko!
These are just a few examples of many. So what are you ideas for the SparkFun/Ponoko collaboration? We'd love to see them!
I was wondering how/where I would create the casing for my Senior Design project... and this post just was a dream come true.<br />

(Totally late reply. But, better late than never!)
Typo, incorrect spelling of oomlaut for the link :)
Fixed. Not "umlaut"...not "oomlaut"...but "oomlout!" I always struggle with that one. Thanks!
Very cool! Is it possible though, to use any Sparkfun gift card Funds at Ponoko? Or, perhaps, buy a Ponoko gift card from SF with our SF gift card funds?
