Hello and welcome back to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! This week we are happy to announce two brand new Qwiic boards to the ever expanding ecosystem I2C boards. We start the week off with our brand new BMP581 Pressure Sensor. This little board is eight times more precise than its little sibling, the BMP384, but is just as easy to start using and program! Following that, the ISM330DHCX 6DoF IMU Breakout is here to, hopefully, help alleviate the difficulties of obtaining inertial measurement units in this crazy supply chain-hampered world. Finally, we bring you a new five pack of UHF RFID Tags!
Alright, let's jump in and take a closer look at all of this week's new products!
The SparkFun Qwiic BMP581 Pressure Sensor is a standard-sized, 1in. by 1in. absolute pressure sensor breakout from Bosch Sensortec. The BMP581 boasts exceptional resolution (down to 1/64Pa) and accuracy, while maintaining on-chip linearization and temperature compensation to provide true absolute data for pressure and temperature. The Qwiic Pressure Sensor (as well as the ISM330DHCX 6DoF IMU below) communicates over I2C by default utilizing our handy Qwiic Connect System, so no soldering is required to connect it to the rest of your boards. However, we still routed the I2C signals out to a set of 0.1”-spaced pins for users who prefer a soldered connection. You can also configure the board to communicate over SPI using the same 0.1"-spaced pins.
The SparkFun Qwiic ISM330DHCX Six Degrees of Freedom IMU is a standard-sized, 1in. by 1in. breakout featuring STMicroelectronics' ISM330DHCX; a high-performance 3D digital accelerometer and 3D digital gyroscope tailored for Industry 4.0. Applications such as platform, optical image, lens stabilization, robotics and industrial automation, navigations systems, and vibration monitoring and compensation are made easy with this small board.
These paper-thin, adhesive EPCglobal Gen2 tags work with our Simultaneous RFID Reader and can be stuck to practically anything you can imagine. The tags can read and be written to - and also have a kill feature. Each tag comes with a TID (Truly Unique ID) that can't be changed, but there's plenty of memory for you to write and read from.
That may be it for this week, but be sure to stop by next Friday for a very special announcement for our Qwiic line! As always, we can't wait to see what you make. Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another, and we'll see you next week with even more new products!
