As we've made mention of a few times in the past month or so, the 2011 SparkFun Autonomous Vehicle Competition (lovingly referred to as the AVC), is not too far off (April 23rd, 2011) ! Today is February 8th, so that gives you just over two months to get your autonomous RC car, quadcopter, or tank ready to roll. The reason for this particular post: an update for those traveling to Boulder.
If you are making the trip out to (hopefully) sunny Colorado and need a place to stay, we have worked with a hotel in the area to get discount rates for SparkFun guests. The hotel is the Best Western Boulder Inn located in South-ish Boulder. The rate is $84 for a room with a king bed, which is a pretty decent discount compared to normal prices. But I have yet to mention the best part - it's walking distance from the Dark Horse, one of SparkFun's favorite watering holes and the site of the AVC after-party.
If you want to reserve a room at the discounted rate, give the Boulder Inn a call at 1-800-233-8469 and use the reference code "SparkFun." Make sure you make your reservation 30 days before the event to lock-in the discount. Safe travels!
Though I live and work in the DTC, I should reserve the room, cause I plan on partying until I'm the only one standing.
WATCH OUT ERIK!
I don't even want to know what that's supposed to mean.
Scandinavians can drink like no one's business, and since I'm not scandinavian, I shall defeat you in battle.
Unfortunately, I've graduated from being a drinking Viking and settled into the role of a responsible father. Also, if you really want a challenge, compete with the average Russian industrial worker instead. You'll be dead by the time he starts getting tipsy.
If only the ability to swallow liquids was a marketable skill...
There's always "Man Vs. Food" on the Travel Channel.
Not in the US it isn't, but it should be!
George Wendt "Norm" made a living out of it. But you could argue this was fiction. But Zane Lamprey has figured out how to make a TV show out of it. If only I had thought of this earlier...
Hmmm...
whoa.
(right attitude)
If i go to Colorado, i will try this.
cell phone watch
I respectfully request, nay demand, a world tour! The AVC needs to come to the uk! >;-D
I have to go to Boulder for work occasionally....gonna have to give the Dark Horse a try next time i'm there
Also try the Avery Tap Room and the Mountain Sun and Southern Sun(Mountain's on Pearl Str. and Southern is south on Broadway I believe).
