Hello and welcome back, everyone! It's Friday and that means more new products to talk about. We start the week off with the new version of the SparkFun Sensor Kit. This version has been updated with some of the newest sensors available. If you're looking for an assortment of different parts, definitely check this kit out! Following that, we have three new camera modules from Raspberry Pi! These new cameras were originally announced on Monday for preorder but we wanted to swing back around to them in case you missed them!
Before we jump in to all of this week's new products, we wanted to share a page with you that is dedicated to all of the SparkFun Original new product releases we had in 2022. We've enjoyed bringing new technologies to your fingertips for the last 20 years and we can't wait to see what the next 20 years brings.
Now, onto this week's new products!
Do you have a good understanding of various sensors or need a variety of them for a project? The SparkFun Sensor Kit includes a sensor for just about every job. With everything included in this kit, you'll be able to sense gestures, humidity, temperature, motion, touch, sound, altitude, acceleration and more! These are some of our favorite sensors from each category. But wait, there's more! The SparkFun Sensor Kit now includes several of our sensor boards that feature the Qwiic Connect System for rapid prototyping!
The Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 is the latest entry in the mainstream RPi camera line-up, and the successor to the popular Camera Module 2. Built around a 12-megapixel Sony IMX708 image sensor module, Camera Module 3 offers a few key enhancements over its predecessor. Improved low-light sensitivity makes for better photos and output in situations where there's not a lot of light. The module also features powered autofocus making it easier to get a sharp picture output. Finally the Camera Module 3 features High Dynamic Range (HDR) support expanding the range of color and contrast in the output.
The Raspberry Pi Camera Module 3 - Wide Angle is similar to the product above, still built around a 12-megapixel Sony IMX708 image sensor module, improved low-light sensitivity, autofocus, and more! This specific module also features a wide-angle lens with a 120° field of view.
The Raspberry Pi High Quality Camera M12 Mount is the same high quality camera as the previous model. Many industrial users prefer to use M12-mount lenses. Previously you would have to connect them to the C-mount metalwork on the HQ Camera via an adapter. This module takes the High-Quality Camera and adds modified metalwork that supports M12-mount lenses natively.
That's it for this week. As always, we can't wait to see what you make. Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another! We'll be back with more new products next week so make sure to check back then. Happy hacking!
