Check out this contest from ThingSpeak and win a SparkFun gift certificate!
ThingSpeak is an open source application platform that helps you take a physical device (like, say an Arduino) and quickly and easily link to to a network (like, say Twitter) so you can share your information across the globe. It's a great resource if you're looking for an easy way to get the info from things like sensors, GPS chips, etc. to people in a meaningful way.
ThingSpeak would've worked great for our Tweeting Kegerator.
So to celebrate their 300th ThingSpeak channel, they have announced a new contest which they call "The Easiest Contest Ever." The rules are pretty straightforward: build a project using a ThingSpeak web service, take a picture of it, do a write-up, and email them the details. The winners will get one of twenty $50 SparkFun gift certificates.
So what will you build? Will it be a Tweeting Kegerator? Or a light-switch that lets you know when you've accidentally left it on? Get creative - we can't wait to see what you come up with. Good luck!
Let me get this straight.
In one fell swoop I can shamelessly promote my web site, contribute my own bizarre sense of 'pop culture' to the internet, and have a good time while I do it?
And! Lest we not forget, get 50 bucks worth of stuff I was going to buy anyway?
Rocket J. Squirrel! It's so on.

Thanks to everyone that participated in the Internet of Things Contest. And, thanks to the SparkFun team...We have awarded 20 gift certificates today and received 20 diverse projects hopefully highlighting our unique features.
We will be blogging about the projects on the ThingSpeak community site: http://community.thingspeak.com/
Congrats!
(Now go spend some of those winnings on new SparkFun gear...)
Pachube much?
I entered the competition with a pseudo random number generator.
I won! :)
Looks like your beer is a little bit warm...
Looks a lot like Pachube , great! the more OpenSource Alternatives the merrier =)
Where did you have the sparkfun flame in that picture made??
My guess would be that Casey made it in-house on his sweet tabletop CNC.
