Hello all! Welcome back to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! This week, we finally get to announce another board that we have been working on behind the scenes for quite some time. Today, we are excited to announce the SparkFun IoT Brushless Motor Driver! This new robotics platform is a kitchen sink of a board and is controlled by the TMC6300 3-phase motor driver and the popular ESP32 WROOM to get you connected via WiFi and Bluetooth®. Following that we have two versions of the OPT4048DTSR Tristimulus Color Sensor, in both Standard and Mini-sized Qwiic board footprints. Finally, we wrap the week with a new 10ml Electric Paint Sachet from Bare Conductive. Let's jump in and take a closer look at all of this week's new products!
The SparkFun IoT Brushless Motor Driver is a powerful, easy-to-use motor driver that can control any 3-phase BLDC with built-in WiFi and Bluetooth® capabilities! However, with our on-board Three Phase Brushless Gimbal Motor, you can be sure of getting the best performance and reliability without needing to find your own motor. It features the TMC6300 from ADI + Trinamic, a high-performance motor driver that allows you to control the motor using a microcontroller, such as the ESP32 WROOM, which is included on the board. The SparkFun IoT Brushless Motor Driver is perfect for various IoT applications, such as controlling robots, drones, and other high-performance devices.
The SparkFun Qwiic Tristimulus Color Sensor is built around the OPT4048 High-Speed, High-Precision Tristimulus XYZ Color Sensor from Texas Instruments. This Sensor features a single-chip high-resolution color sensor capable of measuring four channels, each with specific engineered spectral responses. Three of the four channels on the OPT4048DTSR closely match the CIE tristimulus spectra, with the fourth channel having a wide-band spectral response. With measurements from these channels, essential characteristics of the lighting environment can be extracted, like (i) light intensity (lux), (ii) color in CIE XY, LUV coordinates, and (iii) Correlated Color Temperature. If your space is limited for your next project, we also carry this board in our Qwiic Mini footprint as well! It's the same board as our Standard 1in. by 1in.version, just half the size!
Bare Conductive's Electric Paint Sachets are a great electronics prototyping tool for makers of all ages and are just like any other water-based paint... except that it's electrically conductive! This means that you can actually paint wires onto things like models, clothes, furniture, walls, almost anything you can think of. Standard acrylic or water-based paints can even be used alongside Electric Paint to act as insulation or to create multi-layer circuitry!
That's it for this week. As always, we can't wait to see what you make! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another! We'll be back with more new products next week so make sure to check back then. Happy hacking!
