Hello everyone and welcome to another Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! This week, we have a ton of new products for you to check out. If you stopped by yesterday, you'll know exactly what one of them is! The SparkFun Triband GNSS RTK Breakout utilizes the mosaic-X5 module from Septentrio and accesses L1/L2/L5 bands simultaneously without writing a single line of code! Following that, our newest Development Board comes in a new form-factor and is equipped with the new ESP32-C6! The Qwiic Pocket Development Board is capable of communicating via WiFi, Bluetooth® 5 LE, and Thread and it's Matter-compliant all on a 1in. by 1in. board footprint! Following that, we have two new power options, a dual-port power supply and the new Raspberry Pi 5 RC battery. Finally, we look at two new Raspberry Pi Essential Kits that are available for pre-order and a new version of our Qwiic OLED Display! Let's jump in and take a closer look!
The SparkFun ESP32-C6 Qwiic Pocket Development Board is designed to fit the 1in. x 1in. Qwiic Standard Size, making it easy to add a powerful wireless development platform that stacks into any existing project using the Qwiic ecosystem. It features the ESP32-C6 Mini-1 module from espressif™. We designed this board with components on both sides of the PCB to squeeze as many features as possible into its tiny footprint, including a USB-C connector, Qwiic connector, 2-pin JST battery connector with an on-board charging circuit, as well as two buttons for Reset and Boot. The design also works to optimize power consumption. In our testing, we measured total current consumption by the board to be ~14µA in Deep Sleep mode, making it an excellent fit for remote, battery-powered applications.
We see new iterations with GNSS with each passing year, and with the SparkFun mosaic-X5 Triband GNSS RTK Breakout, you'll be provided with the easiest way to start using L1, L2, and L5 bands simultaneously! At the heart of the Triband GNSS RTK Breakout is Septentrio's most compact high-precision GNSS receiver, the mosaic-X5. The mosaic-X5 module is an ultra-low power, multi-band, multi-constellation GNSS receiver capable of delivering centimeter-level precision at high update rates. The receiver supports the GPS (USA), GLONASS (Russia), Beidou (China), Galileo (Europe), and NavIC (India) constellations, including regional systems (i.e. SBAS and QZSS). It also features Septentrio's unique AIM+ technology for interference mitigation and anti-spoofing, ensuring best-in-class reliability and scalable position accuracy.
The Raspberry Pi RTC Battery is a Panasonic ML-2020 Lithium Manganese Dioxide battery with a two-pin plug suitable for connection to the battery connector on the Raspberry Pi 5 PCB. It is equipped with a double-sided adhesive pad to attach it to the inside of a case or another convenient location.
Power banks are as much swag as they are a tool. But the USAMS 10AH dual port power bank provides far more than your standard power bank. The biggest feature being the digital readout of the amount of battery life left. This helps tremendously in situations where four LEDs is simply not enough to judge remaining battery life. The three integrated cables (C, Lightening, and Micro B) provide connection options for most modern devices without the need to carry additional cables. There's a USB A port on the side in the event you did need a longer cable or a connector that isn't one of those three. Charging is done by a USB C port on the side of the bank and charges at 5V 2A.
The Raspberry Pi 5 comes with some layout and power requirement changes. For those upgrading an existing project to the Raspberry Pi 5, these kits (available in both 4GB and 8GB versions) include the parts that you'll need to update! The Pi5 is a lot more power hungry, so included is the new 27W Type-C PD Wall Adapter (North American Plug). In more than just a new configuration; the new official case also includes a fan, a previously sold-separately component. The new case also features the ability to mount HATs to the Pi 5 while keeping it protected.
The SparkFun Qwiic Micro OLED Breakout is a Qwiic-enabled version of our popular Micro OLED display! The small monochrome, blue-on-black OLED screen presents incredibly clear images for your viewing pleasure. It’s “micro,” but it still packs a punch --- the OLED display is crisp, and you can fit a deceivingly large amount of graphics on there. This breakout is perfect for adding graphics to your next project and displaying diagnostic information without resorting to a serial output, all with the ease of use of our own Qwiic Connect System!
