Hello and welcome to a festive Friday Product Post here at SparkFun Electronics! This week, we have a veritable slew of new products and it all starts with the new UM980 Triband GNSS RTK Breakout to engage with constellations across (above?) the world on all currently available channels! Second up this week, we have two versions of the TMAG5273 Linear 3D Hall-Effect Sensor to detect magnetic fields in your environment in our Standard Qwiic footprint as well as a Mini version as well! We wrap the week with a brand new 1.3in. Qwiic OLED that's capable of displaying text, images, and simple animations!
Before we get into the new products, from December 12th – 23rd enjoy big savings on a new SparkFun Dev Board each day. This is our final sale of the year, so if you are still looking for the perfect gift to give this holiday, make sure you give our sale page (or our Holiday Gift Guide) a check! You can even use the promo code holidays2023 at checkout from December 12 — December 24 to get a Qwiic MultiStar Constellation Ornament with any purchase. Finally, please, please, please, make sure to check out our Holiday Shipping Guide for 2023 to make sure you get your package on or before December 24th. Some of these deadlines have already passed so make sure to give the page a view before deciding on your shipping preference.
Now, let's jump in and take a closer look at all of this week's new products!
The SparkFun Triband GNSS RTK Breakout features the UM980 GNSS high precision RTK position module from Unicore Communications. The UM980 is a 1408-Channel GNSS Receiver based on the Nebulas IV™ that is able to simultaneously track GPS L1/L2/L5, GLONASS L1/L2, Galileo E1/E5a/E5b/E6, Beidou B1I/B2I/B3I/B1C/B2a/B2b, QZSS L1/L2/L5, and SBAS. With this board, you will be able to know where your (or any object's) X, Y, and Z location is within roughly the width of your fingernail. When an RTK solution is reached, the module can achieve a horizontal accuracy of about 8mm (~0.3 inches) and vertical accuracy of 15mm (~0.59 inches). The UM980 is capable of both rover and base station operations.
The SparkFun TMAG5273 Qwiic Linear 3D Hall-Effect Sensor is a low-power, high-precision magnetic field sensor that can detect a magnetic field's presence, strength, and direction in three dimensions. This board is perfect for applications involving magnetic proximity detection, door and window sensing, mobile rotor and control, and more!
We also have a Mini footprint version for those who need more project space or weight to work with!
The SparkFun Qwiic 1.3in OLED is a compact, easy-to-use display perfect for adding a visual element to your Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or other microcontroller projects. With a vibrant 1.3-inch OLED screen and a resolution of 128x64 pixels that deliver crisp white-on-black, it's ideal for displaying text, graphics, and even simple animations.
Do you need power? These breakouts for the 433M30S and 868M30S modules from EBYTE are 1W (30dBm) LoRa transceivers. LoRa is great for long range (miles), low power (in sleep), and low data rates (~500bps). This breakout board is designed to connect to any platform that has SPI and six available GPIO. We include a robust edge mount SMA connector to connect large LoRa (433MHz or 868MHz) antennas. Please make sure to verify which module is best for you if you are international or domestic!
That's it for this week. As always, we can't wait to see what you make! Shoot us a tweet @sparkfun, or let us know on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn. Please be safe out there, be kind to one another! We'll be back with more new products next week so make sure to check back then. Happy holidays!
