Are they flat on the bottom for sitting on a table? The photo seems to indicate there's some threads big on the back that wouldn't make it sit flat?

Wonder how good this one would look as a HAL eye?

Can the LED + LED holder in these still be removed and replaced with a standard lightbulb with the appropriate fitting? I replaced the LED in the dome button I have right now with a bulb I got from the car parts store that fit exactly into the socket, and also also (not coincidentally) ran off of 12V.

    • yes. the LED assembly thing is nearly identical between the two models, so this shouldn't be an issue at all.

Don

It may be cheaper and not as sturdy as the more expensive version, but this button still is very functional. I used 3 of these for my sons train crossing guard toy and they could have many purposes other than as buttons. In my project I used all three as light diffusers for LED lighting. They have a very HAL9000 look to them when lit. I used one as an actual button(gasp) for triggering the cycle in my project. It has stood up to the abuse of a 4 year old for better than a year now.
