Foam PCB Tape - 3M VHB Acrylic 1" (1 yard)

Do you need to permanently affix your board to one location without using screws? With this 3M VHB (very high bond) foam double-sided tape you will be able to utilize the multi-purpose acrylic adhesive on both sides of the conformable foam to stick your PCB to any flat surface you need to. Simply peel one side of the foam tape off, affix it to your board, peel off the other side of the tape and stick it to the inside of an enclosure, work bench, project, or pretty much anything else that you see fit.

This tape is 1" wide, about 0.07" thick, and is a little longer than 1 yard (to compensate for extra tape that may be stuck to the inner plastic tube). It should be noted that this tape is extremely difficult to remove, so be sure to know exactly where you want it to go before you commit.

How thick is it? This is the tape that holds the glass windows on all those skyscrapers BTW, so you want to make sure you have it right when you stick it down.

    • The tape is 0.07" (~1.78mm) thick. Yeah, serious stuff this tape. The note at the bottom was from me sticking a RedBoard to my desk with this stuff to test out the "VHB" and I was not disappointed (I'm just glad it's in a good location).

A WORD OF WARNING: 3M made something like this many many years ago that worked very well for elevating and positioning boards that needed to be isolated from vibration. This is a lot thinner so it doesn't do that very well BUT that material and others like it seem to break down into a.... gooo is the only way to describe it... that will coat and make sticky EVERYTHING it touches and transfer instantly to any surface. Requires a lot of contact cleaner or Goof-Off to get rid of. This "goo" process takes a long time (decades in some cases), so remember that when Future You has to do something with the PCB Today You is building into an enclosure.
