SD cards are all over the place and they're great for storing large amounts of data. Why not take advantage by adding an SD socket to your next data heavy project. We use it on a whole bunch of our boards! The SD/MMC ( Secure Digital Disk / Multi Media Cards) cards use a very simple SPI serial bus as well as a 4-bit proprietary bus.
This skill defines how difficult the soldering is on a particular product. It might be a couple simple solder joints, or require special reflow tools.
Skill Level: Competent - You will encounter surface mount components and basic SMD soldering techniques are required.

Will this work with an Electric Imp? They recommend 4UCON 19646 which does not seem to be available.
Does this model fit the same footprint as the previous PRT-11362, specially the shell grounding pins?
would this be compatible with a raspberry pi? My sd card slot broke.
Unfortunately, it isn't. The pin-outs are not compatible.
