This is a 2x23 pin male PTH header. This piece is in the common configuration for Beaglebone Black headers that can be broken apart to form smaller header formations. Each pin has a spacing of 0.1" in between each other.
This skill defines how difficult the soldering is on a particular product. It might be a couple simple solder joints, or require special reflow tools.
Skill Level: Noob - Some basic soldering is required, but it is limited to a just a few pins, basic through-hole soldering, and couple (if any) polarized components. A basic soldering iron is all you should need.

Robust headers, just annoyed they didn't break cleanly with cutters or pliers. FYI, plan on sacrificing 2 pins with every break.
Always have a wide selection of pins available. Never know when you’ll need to replace a few, or just one. Some times you'll want to add stability, and a 2x2 in the breadboard on a board will do just that.
