Mean Well Switching Power Supply - 12VDC, 12.5A

This is a 150W single output switching power supply from Mean Well. This power supply is extremely reliable and able to output 12VDC at 12.5A. We've been testing this power supply for quite some time and can definitely attest to its durability with its metal casing, short circuit, overload and overvoltage protections.

Inside the metal case that surrounds the power supply you will find a selector switch to change the voltage range between 90VAC to 132VAC and 180VAC to 264VAC, or 254VDC to 373VDC. This specific model is cooled by free air convection and operates at a temperature of -20°C to +60°C. Mean Well has really outdone themselves with their power supplies, which are high quality and should last for quite some time without any loss in reliability!

How to Power a Project

February 7, 2013

A tutorial to help figure out the power requirements of your project.

Core Skill: DIY

Whether it's for assembling a kit, hacking an enclosure, or creating your own parts; the DIY skill is all about knowing how to use tools and the techniques associated with them.

1 DIY

Skill Level: Noob - Basic assembly is required. You may need to provide your own basic tools like a screwdriver, hammer or scissors. Power tools or custom parts are not required. Instructions will be included and easy to follow. Sewing may be required, but only with included patterns.

Core Skill: Electrical Prototyping

If it requires power, you need to know how much, what all the pins do, and how to hook it up. You may need to reference datasheets, schematics, and know the ins and outs of electronics.

3 Electrical Prototyping

Skill Level: Competent - You will be required to reference a datasheet or schematic to know how to use a component. Your knowledge of a datasheet will only require basic features like power requirements, pinouts, or communications type. Also, you may need a power supply that?s greater than 12V or more than 1A worth of current.

The output voltage is rated at 12 Volts, but it also appears to be adjustable. What is the range of output?

You really should put the output voltage in the product title.

Definitely Worth the Money

I'm using this to drive multiple stepper motors. Works great so far, very happy with it. It's quiet and outputs a stable voltage.

If you don't feel like stripping a 3-prong power cord and attaching lugs sparkfun sells one here: https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14092

My only nit is that you have to open up the case to get to the switch for 110V/220V AC (mine came in the 220 position). It would be nice if they put this outside the case like I've seen other manufacturers do.
