There are a lot of different development boards requiring different input voltages. The SparkFun Power Supply Sample Kit provides you with a sampling of the power supplies that we offer to power your next project. Included in this kit are four different wall adapter power supplies, two at 5V, one at 9V, and one at 12V.
USB Wall Charger - 5V, 2A: USB as a power connection standard is common these days, but you don't always have a computer on hand so how are you going to power all of your sweet USB devices? How about a high quality switching 'wall wart'? This AC to DC power supply will do 5V at 2A! They're switch mode power supplies which means the output is regulated to 5V.
Wall Adapter Power Supply - 5VDC, 2A (Barrel Jack): This is a high quality 'wall wart' AC to DC 5V 2000mA Barrel Jack wall power supply. These are switch mode power supplies which mean the output is regulated to 5V and the capable output current is much higher (2000mA).
Wall Adapter Power Supply - 9VDC, 650mA (Barrel Jack): This is a high quality 'wall wart' AC to DC 9V 650mA wall power supply. These are switch mode power supplies which mean the output is regulated to 9V and the capable output current is much higher (650mA).
Wall Adapter Power Supply - 12VDC, 600mA (Barrel Jack): This is a high quality AC to DC 'wall wart' which produces a regulated output of 12VDC at up to 600mA. These are switch mode power supplies which means the output is regulated to 12V and the capable output current is much higher (600mA).
When it comes time for your next project no need to worry about power, this kit will have you covered.
Note: Make sure to check out the related products/hook up accessories and include a USB Cable for your project if you do not have one already for the USB Wall Charger.
If it requires power, you need to know how much, what all the pins do, and how to hook it up. You may need to reference datasheets, schematics, and know the ins and outs of electronics.
Skill Level: Competent - You will be required to reference a datasheet or schematic to know how to use a component. Your knowledge of a datasheet will only require basic features like power requirements, pinouts, or communications type. Also, you may need a power supply that?s greater than 12V or more than 1A worth of current.

Have you really ever opened and repaired an USB charger? You ran a story about linear supplies last week and it was like nothing i'd ever seen in the past 10 years. You can pop open most sealed units with a simple chisel and hammer, if they don't use a screw. P.S. Why do some units use GREEN caps??I bought 100 from Amazon.
