This metal enclosure finished in SparkFun Red will help protect your electronics from harmful contact from outside sources. The body is one piece of aluminum extrusion which contains mounting slots for your PCBs. The front and rear plates are attached with screws. The enclosure is roughly ~2mm thick (top & bottom), ~3mm thick (sides), ~1.5mm thick (face plates). Screws are 5.9mm long.
While this kit comes with machined aluminum plates, the locations of the connectors on your design will probably be wildly different. Never fear! We invented a hack: use PCBs instead! FR4 PCBs can be manufactured with excellent tolerances and for very little cost. We've linked to the EAGLE design files on the documents tab to get you started. A red PCB with an overlay sticker give this enclosure the professional fit and feel your project deserves.
This is the same enclosure used on the SparkFun RTK reference station. What will you use it for?
