This custom-designed plastic wheel from Pololu has a rubber tire measuring 1.65" (42 mm) in diameter and is designed to fit the output shafts on our micro and mini metal gearmotors as well as the Solarbotics metal gear motors. Teeth on the hub optionally allow a reflectance sensor to be used for encoder feedback.
This rugged wheel is designed to fit securely on the output shafts of the micro and mini metal geramotors. These gearmotors should be mounted onto the side of the hub with the protruding teeth. The output shaft will slide into the socket easily at first but will achieve a snug fit when pressed through to the other edge of the hub.
The output shafts on the Solarbotics metal gear motors will also fit these wheels, but because they are shorter they will have to be mounted onto the other side of the wheel where the fit is tighter.
The Micro Metal Gearmotor Bracket Extended is specifically designed to work with this wheel. Please note that the non-extended version of our mounting bracket will not work well with this wheel.
Sold in pairs. You get two wheels.
This skill concerns mechanical and robotics knowledge. You may need to know how mechanical parts interact, how motors work, or how to use motor drivers and controllers.
Skill Level: Noob - You will be required to put together a robotics kit. Necessary parts are included and steps will be easy to follow. You also might encounter basic robotics components like bearings, mounts, or other hardware and need a general idea of how it goes together.

This product contains 2 pieces of wheels or a single piece?
It would be very helpful if a link to an item being recommended would be provided in the spiel above. I'm going around in circles looking for these 'extended brackets' for the gear motor.
this item should be called wheels...
Does this item contain 2 pieces of wheels, so you specified that?
would this work with servos
can i use them on a rover 5 ?
Can these wheels fit the Rover 5 platform?
No, they are far too small. Check the Rover's related products for all the wheels that will fit it.
Thank for the response. I don't see any other wheels except for Mecanum wheels, but I want traditional wheels. Does Sparkfun sell them for Rover 5?
We only have the tank treads (which come with it) and the large off-road tires. However, with the large off-road tires, you need some pretty powerful motor drivers to make everything work, and that's why they're not related.
What are the dimensions of the motor/wheel interface? I'd like to put together a free axle and those dims aren't included!
Hey!
I have a question. In the product info it says that the size diameter of the wheel is 42mm which is in contradiction with the picture where we can clearly see that the diameter is 35mm. So.. what is the real diameter ?
The diameter of the plastic hub is 35mm (as shown in the dimension diagram), and the diameter of the wheel with the tire on it is 42mm. The size indicators in Sparkfun's pictures are wrong for this product.
That picture is showing a detail of the hub. The dimensions would be correct if you consider that the tire will change the final dimensions. The hub, and tire are 42mm.
I know the dimension diagram just shows the hub, but your top- and bottom-view pictures have size indicators that say the wheel (with tire) is only 35mm in diameter. These are the pictures I was pointing out as incorrect.
