ProtoShield for Arduino Pro Mini

This is a small prototyping shield for the Arduino Pro Mini. If your project requires just a little bit more space for your external circuitry, this might be a perfect addition. 38 unconnected PTHs are provided for your prototyping needs.

The shield fits the small form factor of the Arduino Pro Mini - connecting to the 'top' four pins on each side of the Mini ('GND'-'TXO' & 'VCC'-'RAW'). There are small buses for VCC, GND and RAW. In addition to the power buses, the serial pins are also broken out on the shield. The analog and digital pins are not broken out on the shield.

  • VCC, RAW and GND buses
  • Serial (RXI & TXO) pins broken out to small buses
  • Works with both 5V and 3.3V Pro Mini versions
  • Upholds the Pro Mini's small form factor
  • 38 unconnected PTHs for prototyping

ProtoShield for Arduino Pro Mini Product Help and Resources

Core Skill: Soldering

This skill defines how difficult the soldering is on a particular product. It might be a couple simple solder joints, or require special reflow tools.

2 Soldering

Skill Level: Rookie - The number of pins increases, and you will have to determine polarity of components and some of the components might be a bit trickier or close together. You might need solder wick or flux.

Wish it connected to all pins on the mini. So I could by multiple for prototyping and then just swap my mini between projects. With this set up I'll still have to solder directly to the mini to reach any of the inputs.

I Agree. a newer design of this board (hopefully) should allow you to create shields that can be simple mounted via headers onto all the pro mini pins, making it a true protoshield

I second that. I was surprised it wasn't designed like that to begin with.

SparkFun: On the next round of these, please do this.

Note the bused I/O pins for easy connection to sensors.

That would be a much better design. Please do the above.

    Cool new product.
Sparkfun is genius at creating new "must have" items that we didn't even know we needed.

  • This will be very useful for my RoWD (Robot of World Domination)... Muhahahaha! >:D

I need to use the (offset) A4 and A5 pins on the ProMini but haven't figured out how to bring these up to the shield - which I will later need to be able to remove. Would the Arduino offset headers (mounted upside-down on the shield) match the spacing? Has anyone done something like this successfully?

Is this compatible with the Arduino Stamp?

Can we get something like this for the FIO?
