Binding Post - Black

This is a black insulated binding post. These binding posts do accept banana plugs, and are a great way to connect single-wire leads. The colored cap screws up and down, and is designed to clamp on the connecting wire.

These binding posts are sold individually. We also carry a similar red binding post.

Any info regarding dimensions, drill & thread size?

  • No datasheet with dimensions?

  • So, is this like the "female" for the banana plugs?

In case anyone else is wondering like I was; These binding posts fit banana jacks fairly snuggly, but not 100%. I think this is so when you try to unscrew the binding post it doesn't start backing whatever banana plug you have plugged in out.
These are of fairly crappy quality. I guess that's what you get when you pay 35 cents each, but I ordered quite a few of both colors (red and black) and many of the black ones came scuffed up and looking poor and one of the screws on a red one had snapped so the whole thing was falling apart. If you can afford higher quality then don't get these.

    • I know this is a very delayed response, but it sounds like your posts arrived damaged due to shipping. If that ever happens, please contact us at techsupport@sparkfun.com and we will get those replaced for you.

Do you like frustration? If so, these are for you

Hard to seat and don't lock on to boards and hold as you tighten. Connection was buggy until I overtightened it, worked in the end, but not well. Didn't try banana plugs on, but the pin screw down connector doesn't hold pins well at all.

Not great

The plastic feels cheap, isn't very precise and as a result the screw is hard to turn. The hole in the post is also far from the flat part, so clamping a wire in it usually ruins the end of the wire. I put this next to red posts bought on mouser and the difference is night and day, spend an extra 20 cents to get something better than this
