This is a breakout board to allow simple access to the tightly pitched pins on the GS406 and GS407 GPS units. This board breaks out all of the necessary pins to a row of standard 0.1" spaced header to allow for easy bread boarding and simple connection.
Note: TXO and RXI are labeled according to the GS407 datasheet, which is from the point of view of the MCU. Therefore, TXO should connect to TX on your microcontroller, and RXI should connect to RX.
Note: This is not compatible with the newer GS407 module, as it uses a different connector completely. Please check to make sure this board will work with your module. ktxbai!

This skill defines how difficult the soldering is on a particular product. It might be a couple simple solder joints, or require special reflow tools.
Skill Level: Noob - Some basic soldering is required, but it is limited to a just a few pins, basic through-hole soldering, and couple (if any) polarized components. A basic soldering iron is all you should need.

TIP:
You should put some double sided tape to hold the GPS board in place.
I got one of these and it works OK so far (talking to GPSd using an FTDI breakout board)
I suggest putting a dab of glue at the edges of the connector as the second time I removed the board from the GPS module I lifted 2 pads :(
That or use a knife between the two connector faces so no force is applied to the pads.
I note that on the GPS board pins 1, 2, 9 & 10 are much bigger than the others, presumably for mechanical strength.
For me the complete connector came off when trying to remove the GPS module from this BOB.
Putting some glue on the egdes is a very good idea to prevent this.
We'll improve the TX/RX labeling in the next revision. There are no usable mounting holes on the GPS, so securing the boards to each other is a challenge. However, the back of the breakout board is level with the shield on the backside of the GPS, so you can glue a piece of circuit board across the gap to securely hold them together.
Honestly, I like it. TX Out, RX In. It's an easy reminder that keeps confusion out of the normal DTE/DTC matchups.
As for the board itself, I'd like it to sit 'under' the 407 a little more. It's a more compact package that way, and I can use servo tape to keep them stuck together!
