At 120mm in diameter and 60mm wide, these are some seriously burly little wheels. The tire is soft black rubber with deep tread and spikes for added traction in rugged terrain. An adapter is included which bolts to the back of the hub and easily mounts to any motor with a 4mm output shaft. We're selling these wheels in pairs.
Note: These tires are large and have a lot of grip to them. Because of this, you will need some relatively powerful motors to drive them well.
This skill concerns mechanical and robotics knowledge. You may need to know how mechanical parts interact, how motors work, or how to use motor drivers and controllers.
Skill Level: Noob - You will be required to put together a robotics kit. Necessary parts are included and steps will be easy to follow. You also might encounter basic robotics components like bearings, mounts, or other hardware and need a general idea of how it goes together.

Whether it's for assembling a kit, hacking an enclosure, or creating your own parts; the DIY skill is all about knowing how to use tools and the techniques associated with them.
Skill Level: Noob - Basic assembly is required. You may need to provide your own basic tools like a screwdriver, hammer or scissors. Power tools or custom parts are not required. Instructions will be included and easy to follow. Sewing may be required, but only with included patterns.

Does anyone know what kind of motor that would be appropriate and where I can find it?
These wheels were originally designed for use on Wild Thumper 6WD chassis, so they work well with the Wild Thumper motors, which are available individually and in a variety of gear ratios here.
The ideal motor for your project will depend on what kind of torque and speed you need. The ones used on the Wild Thumpers are the high-power (HP) 34:1 and 75:1 25D gearmotors. All the gearmotors in that category have 4mm output shafts that fit the adapters that come with this wheel.
Huge shame you've stopped selling these. I've got a set on my favorite off-roader and it is unstoppable.
Does 2 pack mean 4 wheels? Please reply me ASAP. Thanks in advance.
where shall i find 6mm shaft adapters for these wheels??
will it fits into Standard Gearmotor - 303 RPM (3-12V) of 6mm (dia) shaft
Does anyone have the SolidWorks model for these? Can't find it. Thanks!
Anyone have the CAD files for these? ProE preferred, but STP etc will work.
Thanks!
I can't say I'm very impressed with these. The tire itself is a very thin rubber (thinner than a bike tire tube) and is filled with foam to give it what little support it has. The hub is a brittle plastic that has been covered in a metallic coating. This tire would only work for lighter robots. For $15, it was worth a gamble, but just be aware that these things can't handle very heavy loads.
That said, here is a tech spec you don't find in the description - the hub uses a 12mm hex tire mount. There are other companies that will sell 3mm and 6mm converters to fit this tire and others (at the time of this post, Sparkfun doesn't sell these). Just google "6mm shaft to 12mm hex" and you will find what you need.
A question, anyone now if a HS-311 hitec servo can at least move these wheels?
I want to control each wheel independently. Do you sell a servor or DC motor do control them, which adapts to the wheels? Thanks
Hi, Just to understand. One pack means two wheels. You wrotte two packs.
Are you selling then two packs ( total= four wheels for $ 14.95 ) ?
Could you confirm please ?
Thanks.
can use 3mm shaft in these product???? because i have a motor metal gear with 3mm shaft
not well. they have a 4mm hole with a set screw, so it would be off-centered.
Why not make a small bushing to center it? Might be able to find something at a good r/c hobby shop/ model building.
can anybody tell me the load capacity??
and also..do tell bout the material used... is it steel?? :/
thnq :)
will the Rover 5 Robot platform work with this without upgrading the motors?
Does anyone know if the dual motor gearbox they sell here is under the category of "relatively powerful motors?"
ASCII version... Hahahahaha!
I would be really helpful to get some speed data when these are mounted on the rover 5 platform
We didn't have a big enough battery to get the rover working well with them. Plus, how you drive the motors, how much voltage you provide the motors, and other factors will change this.
Would a 12kg/cm servo be powerful enough to turn these things pretty well? building an off road car, not sure where to start (with wheels or motors)
hey, where can I find just this adapters? I need them :S
sorry, they come with the wheels and aren't sold separately.
