Missile Switch Cover - Carbon Fiber

It's not what project you have in mind that may use a rocket launch switch... The question is what project will you come up with once you have one in hand? Everyone has a proverbial missile to launch, and with this simulated carbon fiber switch-cover people will know that you mean business.

The safety cover protects a toggle switch from accidentally being turned on. When flipped up, the user has full access to a switch underneath. Upon closing the cover, the cover will force the switch arm back into the lower position - a safety mechanism so you can quickly hit the cover down and deactivate the switch.

**Note: **This is the cover for the switch only. A compatible toggle switch is listed below. It's also not real carbon fiber, just plastic that is made to look like carbon fiber.

Sorry, but nuclear missile launch switches need to be red. It's just standard protocol!

This will be good for nitrous in a car though.

    • Yes, but if you're building your own missile launch station... how concerned are you with protocol really?

The last thing you want is to feel insecure about your missile launch switch for aesthetic reasons!

LOL. I think homeland security would have something to say about that.

        • Yeah I think they would get pretty mad if you didn't follow protocol.

Homeland security would be to concerned about me, I'm just up the road from Hanford

The ignition switch on my race car uses a RED missile control switch cover. A real one - swiped from a actual (retired) submarine launch control panel.

The heck with red! I'm going with the Carbon Fiber look just for the cool factor.

I don't even use red for my nuclear launch switches. I have covers with an image of a skull.

I believe this is a plastic cover which is decorated to look like carbon fiber.

The description makes it sound like it is actually made of carbon fiber.

Clarification would be appreciated. - Dean

  • Faux carbon fiber makes me really angry for some reason.

Actually, I have been looking for a long time for a switch cover like this! Unfortunately, I bet that it is too small for my purpose. I have been looking for one that can be attached to a house hold light switch cover to put over the disposal on switch so that I won't accidentally turn it on when I am reaching over to turn on the overhead light switch which is right next to it. I should reverse them because I would expect the safe one would be closest to hand when standing in front of the sink, but whom ever installed it put the dangerous one closest and easiest to use! I thought that a missile launch switch cover would not only solve the problem no matter which position the dangerous one is in, plus

    it would look REALLY NEAT!

would it be possible to have one of these covers made to include a microswitch or sensor of some kind to sense when the cover has been flipped up?

I'd like to be able to flip up the cover up and have nice, loud BEEEEEEP before I go ahead and throw the switch.

Im looking to use one of these with https://www.sparkfun.com/products/10545 momentary toggle switch. mOn/off/mOn. Does the cover push the switch to an on position? If so, would it be possible to cut out the inside so the switch stays in the off center position when the cover is closed? Id like to use the up on as power, and the down on as reset, and need the cover so i dont accedently reset my machine.

Wow nice...I need one of these. I hate it when my missile goes off accidentally. One of these on my boats battery transfer emergency start switch will prevent certain dumb asses from running all the batteries slap yo mamma dead.

the carbon fiber paint doesn't go on to the inside!

Perfect for my CRM-114 Discriminator rebuild. The CRM-114 is really cheesy when you rebuild it with lighted arcade push buttons.
