Raspberry Pi Camera Case - Black Plastic

Note: This camera case does not currently fit the Raspberry Pi Camera Module V2. We are currently looking for a resolution to this issue.

The Raspberry Pi is everybody's favorite little computer and adding a Camera Module or Pi NoIR opens the door into video and photo capture, the last thing that you'd want is for something bad to happen to it. Why not protect your camera with one of these snazzy plastic enclosures? These cases protect the Raspberry Pi Camera Module from things like rogue wires that might short it out while still allowing full access to the board! Simply place the camera into the front half of the enclosure, then snap the two sides together.

As you may have noticed, these camera enclosures are actually an opaque black color. The enclosures are perfect for blending your camera into a black surface, giving your project a sleeker look.

The enclosure provides a slot to run the ribbon cable out to the CSI on your Raspberry Pi, a hole in the front of the enclosure for the camera to view out of, and two wall mounting slots with screws. This is a really durable case that will do a great job protecting your Raspberry Pi Camera Module or Pi NoIR!

Raspberry Pi Camera v2 Not Compatible

This camera case does not function with the Raspberry Pi Camera Module v2. When lining it up on the pegs inside the case, it obscures about 35% of the viewable area of the camera.

I should have read the comments. This case doesn't fit.

I bought the Pi Cam V2 with this case https://www.sparkfun.com/products/14028

The camera module does not align with the central hole nor does the case close with the camera inside.

"Much better made camera module enclosers are coming soon" Where? Been 3 years! still same case being offered

I bought one of these on Amazon, and in my opinion, DON'T buy it! There seems to be a design flaw. It's a challenge to get the thing closed properly, and when it's actually closed, it applies stress that loosens the "sunny" connector on the front of the board (the one on the same side as the camera; not at the ribbon cable.) The result is hours of wasted time. I first got errors like:

mmal: mmal_vc_component_create: failed to create component 'vc.ril.camera' (1:ENOMEM) mmal: mmal_component_create_core: could not create component 'vc.ril.camera' (1) mmal: Failed to create camera component mmal: main: Failed to create camera component mmal: Camera is not detected. Please check carefully the camera module is installed correctly

    Or this one:

mmal: mmal_vc_component_enable: failed to enable component: ENOSPC mmal: camera component couldn't be enabled mmal: main: Failed to create camera component mmal: Failed to run camera app. Please check for firmware updates

Fortunately, I purchased a "Cana Kit", and I realized (a little too late) that the case sold with it has a mounting assembly for the PiCam.

I know it's cheap, but the camera doesn't even line up with the hole properly, giving it a really crappy look.

Much better made camera module enclosers are coming soon, don't worry.
