Modulo Gizmo Kit
The Modulo Gizmo Kit is an entry-level kit focused on education and playful exploration. It's a great way to get started with Modulo without breaking the bank.
The Gizmo Kit includes the base to hold and connect up to four Modulo modules, a powerful Arduino-compatible microcontroller, a knob module (rotation encoder, push button, bright RGB LED), an infrared remote transmitter/receiver, a micro servo motor (with included servo horns), and a microUSB cable. You can build all sort of things with the Gizmo Kit!
Modulo hardware makes it a breeze to assemble the electronics for a project, and we want to make writing software for it as easy as possible too. The provided libraries for Arduino, Python and Particle will help you do just that. You never have to worry about pin numbers, registers or other low-level details. Simply create objects for each Modulo and interact with them in a straightforward and intuitive way.

Core Skill: Robotics
This skill concerns mechanical and robotics knowledge. You may need to know how mechanical parts interact, how motors work, or how to use motor drivers and controllers.
Skill Level: Rookie - You will be required to know some basics about motors, basic motor drivers and how simple robotic motion can be accomplished.

Core Skill: Programming
If a board needs code or communicates somehow, you're going to need to know how to program or interface with it. The programming skill is all about communication and code.
Skill Level: Rookie - You will need a better fundamental understand of what code is, and how it works. You will be using beginner-level software and development tools like Arduino. You will be dealing directly with code, but numerous examples and libraries are available. Sensors or shields will communicate with serial or TTL.

Core Skill: Electrical Prototyping
If it requires power, you need to know how much, what all the pins do, and how to hook it up. You may need to reference datasheets, schematics, and know the ins and outs of electronics.
Skill Level: Rookie - You may be required to know a bit more about the component, such as orientation, or how to hook it up, in addition to power requirements. You will need to understand polarized components.

Okay, but not teh Arduino experience expected
It worked ok, but not the straight forward experience expected. Will be returning. Found documentation was mostly from 2015, and not many updates.

I think maybe you thought they were out of date because of a 2015 copyright notice?
